Title: 0.9z-2 Install problems on Vista
Post by: PeterSt on October 04, 2010, 02:03:21 pm
(also see 0.9z install problems (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=1254.0;all))

I thought to open a new topic for this, because I just encountered it myself on a clean install of Vista (Ultimate, no SP).

So, a first startup of XXHighEnd gives me a "Does not work anymore", with internal message "System.InvalidOperationException".

This is from a fresh 0.9z-2 download from the "forum".

I must say, that this was preceeded with a "Class not Registered" error, when I referred to my original install on the (now dual boot) OS disk (just started XXHighEnd from its original location).

Notice that before I did 100% the same with a fresh Windows7 (Ultimate) install, and there it worked all normally.
As it worked with the first start of 0.9z-2 from an old Vista install (on another OS disk).

At this moment I can't see what's wrong with it, or how to solve it. But I'll be back !

Peter

It's a bit of ad-hoc typing, but I'm just writing down what happens :
Remember, this is for Vista only ! ... and only for 0.9z-2 !!

BEFORE any attempt to run XXHighEnd for the first time, put both OCXes (see at the bottom) in your (EDIT) \Windows\System32 Folder.
Register them with (open a command prompt and go to your XX folder by means of cd c:\windows\system32 (assumed your OS is on drive c:))

regsvr32 isdigitallibrary.ocx
regsvr32 isanaloglibrary.ocx

(at both commands a "succeeded" message should appear)

Now run XXHighEnd for the first time.
The question for the Install of the OCXes can be answered with Cancel now (but you can also proceed with it, because it doesn't matter).

Now the error stays away.
(all beats me why, and I tried several combinations of Run as Admin on the setup.exe (which is the "install" of the OCXes), to no avail)

If you are already into the problem of the System.invalidOperationException at startup of XXHighEnd

- Uninstall the OCXes (can be done with the Setup.exe in your XX folder, and choose Remove)
- Follow the above procedure.

Notice :
For a fresh install, a first program which will be executed is XXEngine3.exe;
Do not forget to uncheck the box "always ask before this is opened" (similar).
Only after this the message will apear telling you to do so with the next 10 or so programs. So XXEngine3 is "too early".

I will try to make something which avoids this OCX clumseyness.

If you don't feel confident with this all, or think you will be fedup with it all soon, please don't do this. Then better wait until 0.9z-3 where this will be solved (it won't be put out until is has).

Thanks all,
Peter

Notice I edited the before post with putting the OCXes in \windows\system32, which will be more future proof.

Hi Tore,

If you have *this* problem, what's in this topic is supposed to help. Apparently it did not. But tell me, what can I do with your description to further help ? I don't know, because you don't tell anything. So ...

What exactly did you do to overcome this problem, and where did it fail ? What were the messages etc. etc. etc.;
I know, it may not be something you like to put much effort in, but I really don't know how to help otherwise.

To get you started : Did you perform everything in this topic ? if so, where did it go wrong ?

I hope we can get out of this (it's really a stupid problem).
Peter

Edit : please don't answer with "yes I did", but do it again and let me know each step and what happened.

It's allright to leave the problem in this topic !

But are you saying you can run 0.9z-3 now ?
If so, what did you do to get there ?

Thanks,
Peter

Today i started 0.9z-3  for the first time and i got this message : InvalidOperationException

I pressed OK on that message. Next time i started 0.9z-3 i didn`t get the message so i think it is OK now.
