Title: 9z-3 Invalid Exception
Post by: wushuliu on October 27, 2010, 07:25:20 pm
When trying to install z-3 I still get the same error I would get with z-2, except before I figured out how to bypass (might have changed the compatibility setting to XP or something). Now the most I get is: It lets me install ONLY when selecting Admin, but then I get a something not registered error and Engine 3 won't start. The GUI comes up but Engine 3 error. If i deselect Admin in xxHE properties, I just get the Exception error and nothing else... this whole setup shenanigans is really starting to irritate me... :(

To be honest, me too. But I am sorry for *your* problems.

What happens when you shut off UAC ? BUT :
I estimate this is about this small install ("Phasure OCX") and first you'd have to uninstall that (Software/Programs). If you now put XX in a new folder (!) and run XXHighEnd again (but UAC disabled !) for the first time, the install will go with uplevelled rights.

If this doesn't help, can you show me a picture of that "something not registered" error or decsribe it in full otherwise ?

Did you maybe disable services for Diagnostics ?

Sorry for your problems, but I guess it is all still for the better.

Actually I do have a win7 optimizer running that may have services disabled.  I will turn off and try again...

The Win7 optimizer appears to have been the problem and 9z-3 is up and running... :veryhappy:

Thanks for letting know.

For a next person, which "optimizer" was that ?

Title: Re: 9z-3 Invalid Exception - better not use optimizers

Its best to stay away from any so-called optimizers, cleaners and scanners etc.

some are even counter-productive if you do not know what you are doing, or not know what the software exactly does
for eg.

- indexing
- bootoptimizers
- prefetch

are called optimizers too, while we DO turn them off.

I used Vista Services Optimizer. I know my way around services.msc pretty well, but am getting lazier in my old age. Other than the 9z-3 install, it did its job well.
