Title: distortion
Post by: helicon on November 30, 2010, 12:03:52 pm
Hi there.
I experience rapidly distortions. I use special mode, high buffers, with a hrt music streamer.
what to do?

Nothing, it's just the way it is with XXHE, unless you have very solid drivers, which are quite rare. I can use special mode only with ESI drivers. M-Audio, Cantatis, even RME can't do it (stable).

ok. thanks. I try adaptive then, and see if it works ;)

the problem is still there. can there be something with the 24bit at "dac needs"?

Set your buffer size to 1024 or even to 2048 samples in settings area of XXHE. Also make sure that Q1 is set to 1. (default is 0).

Can you -just for trial- try Engine#3 (so, choose a driver which is not preceeded by "KS:") and tell me what happens there ? Set Q1 to 14 in this case.

Thanks,
Peter

I can only use 24bit with my music streamer. can this be the problem?

I am sorry, but I ignored this, assuming somehow that you tried it. But (now assuming that you did not :)), yes of course.
So, just try it ! (but be careful to have the volume down, because if it's really wrong the windows will go out).

Let me know !
Peter

when using ks engine 4, things seem to work.
do you know why, Peter?

Ah great ! I was already breaking my brains because I thought you already did that (actually I still think you already did, see your earlier posts). Ok. Possible reasons (assuming you used Adpative Mode ... or ? ) :

- You now chose the proper Device Buffer size in XX (the ToolTip on that describes the procedure how to);
- You now chose the proper Q1 setting with that (if the above was done correctly, this should be 1 always).
- With Engine#3 you may not have found the proper Q1 value working. Notice that for normal USB the bandwidth usually is smaller than for SPDIF connections; for async USB I don't know. So, it could be in between 8 and 17 or so.

Well, happy listening then !
Peter

hi there.
still can not get the music streamer work properly on engine 3. it works fine with engine4. Only reason is that I like the sound better from engine3.
tried to set the q1 to30, highest buffersize.
the streamer works asynchron, can this be the issue. someone have experiense with the streamer on xxhighend?
thanks
