Title: NOS with 200 hours on the clock
Post by: Scroobius on May 08, 2011, 10:16:08 pm
Hi Guys,

For anyone interested I have about 200 hours on my NOS1 now and it is sounding simply stunning freer, easier, natural. I am sitting here listening to tracks I know really well but have not heard for a long time and they sound like new tracks - the sound quality is as I have never heard before anywhere. The bass is controlled, natural, rhythmic - high frequency delicacy, detail, bite and attack when needed you name it everything is just at a completely new level mmmmm!!!! yummie yummie - I dont want to go to bed in fact I think I might not.

Oh yes and even though there is much, much more detail everything sounds relaxed and easy to listen to. Those nasty hard 80's digital recordings sound much better. Early simple recordings sound great - in fact everything is shown off at its best. Not an easy trick but NOS manages it - always always easy to listen to.

I was listening to one track earlier and I could feel the bass hitting me in the chest - and my speakers are not really earth shakers (or I did not think they were).

Just ordered some Yello Cd's I want to see if I can give my 300B's a heart attack!!!!

No regrets going for the i7 970 - XX settings are so easy I can set buffers where I want, rip CD's, surf, run XX etc all at the same time and not upset XX at all. It makes life so much easier with so much resource available. And everything works fine except AutoHotkeys in unattended which is probably a security issue and I will have to work on - but I would rather listen to music he he.

All the best

PC

............. and there are Nicks mods to come - strewth doesn't bare thinking about :-)))))))

Hi Paul,

Glad for you to go for hexa core processor. With 12 threads running, we should expect improvement in SQ with future version of XXHE.

Your punch and dynamic in bass came earlier than mine. For me it came at after about 360 hours. So I think you will have more punch.

Enjoy!
