Title: All music playing at high speed.
Post by: Megido on July 07, 2011, 08:05:45 am
I have heard so many great things about this program that I really want to try it out. I downloaded the demo but have had a terrible time with it. The problem I am having is that every single song I play, sounds like it is playing in high speed. Needless to say, it sounds awful. I have tried many different files and formats, all with the same result. My library consists of flac files ripped from cds in media monkey. I am using a nuforce udac2. Please Help!

Wow, now *that* seems impossible to me !

So e.g. 24/96 behaves the same ?

WASAPI (Engine#3) and Kernel Streaming (#4) both the same ? (please try this)

I really can't think of anything at this moment, and never heard of it either. It has to be related to your DAC somehow, but then the way it is set for sample rate (??).

I can also think of something in the USB realm going bananas. Does Kernel Streaming Normal Mode vs. Adaptive Mode vs. Special Mode change anything ?

Really curious what this can be ...
Peter

I have tried kernal streaming but only get an error saying "this device is not suitable for kernal streaming" . I have tried normal 16/44 files and 24/96 with the same result.

Does Foobar work with using WASAPI ?

Foobar works just fine with WASAPI output enabled.

Ok, something must definitely be wrong in your system.
Can you be so kind to switch on Logging (bottom in Settings Area), try the Kernel Streaming device of which you think it should work, and after the error message appears get the X3PB log file (in TemporaryData under your XX folder) and post it here as attachment ?

I'm not sure what this will bring, but maybe I can see something.

And when you're at it anyway, please also try to play a 16/44.1 with Engine#3 (a non-KS: device), and after you hear sound, click Stop and post the XX, X3 and X3PB logfiles of that. You can see on the times of the log files when you did what.

Thanks.

About the Kernel Streaming ... This seems to be about the name "NuForce µDAC 2" with this non-ascii character in there.

About the high speed ... no, I'm tripping over something I tripped over before. But as you said, it LOOKS like it plays at high speed, which is because it's skipping samples (you'd think the other way around, but not so).

Try to vary Q1 from e.g. 4 to 20 or so, and closely watch for a difference in the nature of the distortion (because that's what it is).

PS: I don't know how to solve the KS thing at this moment, unless you can somehow tweak the device name (notice it is a kind of crazy to have such marks in there -> tell NuForce :)).

I am so sorry that I didn't think of this earlier. I guess this is because the "experience" with WASAPI is fainting somewhat ... :)

I ran into this today by accident, but I can tell this is solved for 0.9z-7.

hehe I was going to ask if you wanted me to ask Fireface to change the name of the device

Haha. Yea, well, I don't know whether you got the grasp of this yourself Dave, but others sure will not.

So, I ran into this because of your (5+6) problem and looking back for something that created that. That was in here. So, while running into this, I could nicely tell that this is solved in the mean time. I could have added :

But now Dave has a problem - good bye !
:)

Anyway, while the solution to this diacritical mark in driver device nams was solved, it created your (5+6) problem that now showing as (5), but this has been solved as well by now.
FYI : there's an option for it in Settings because I could not find a general way to solve it. I almost named the option : My name is Dave Y/N.
