Title: 05a | Your first SQ settings (0.9z-7)
Post by: PeterSt on July 26, 2012, 12:26:15 pm

So there you are. All up and runing. Now what ?
Too many things to try.

Your first settings should be about conveniency. Well, here is a combination which is convenient to work with, should show no strange quircks and sounds the most resolving in the mean time :

Engine#4 - Kernel Streaming in Adaptive Mode
Processor Core Appointment Scheme : 3
Player Priority : lowest, Thread Priority : highest
Clock Resolution : 15ms
Device Buffer Size : 4096
Q1 : 14
Q1Factor : 1
Arc Prediction Upsampling : As far as it goes for your DAC
IPhase : Absolute Plus (thus, not Invert when nothing inverts it in your chain, net), or Invert when your chain inverts, net.
Ph +/- : Opposite of how IPhase is set (thus, when that Inverts, denote + here)
Split File Size (SFS) = 2

Although you should be able to perceive what's intended anyway, do note that a Minimized OS *really* changes things, and that Unattended Playback finishes it off.

When you think this is too much resolving hence freshness is profound, try SFS = 60 as that other setting. This will not create an "opposite" sound per se, but will be more towards analogue - perhaps less interesting, but with a feel of nothing being able to go wrong.

When both these SFS settings give you the creeps for some reason, deactivate your set Ph button and retry. Notice though that above mentioned further settings are consistent with the Ph button active, and anything else may be needed to get your best sound. When the current XXHighEnd version is about for a month or longer, you may look at people's signatures to find what is most common. Notice that Phasure NOS1 owners are not representative, unless you own a NOS1 yourself.
