Title: #3 engine stopped working
Post by: Gerner on October 11, 2007, 09:09:58 pm
Ooooops

9M-1 is not yet complete.

I had several #3 enginge stopped working pop-ups. Restart Vista.

Now to me it seems what's provoking it, is that *I* am provoking it.

Interrupting a playlist keeping one track still hanging and playing, and stop that to load a new playlist does the job f*****g up Fista.

Now I experience glitches from time to time as well.

Beside that anoing thing, the XX is peaking  :veryhappy:

May I supply with that this phenomenon is connectet to certain rips/folders?

I can repeat the #3 stop after reboot, load another playlist from another folder and it goes as it should.

Hi Gerner,

If you could proove that this was not so with 0.9m I would be very happy to hear that. Or when 0.9m does not make a difference ... I'd be even more happy.

Hi Peter,

I did  not tell you yesterday but i had problems also. When i moved the time cursor XX gave the message
                                        "Device cannot allocated, reason unknown".
When i try to stop en after that start xx again the message still came up. I had to restart the computer...

After that i had another problem. When i (possibly) to fast pusht the next button. Than xx did not do anything but it kept on playing. Even when i clikt xx away the music was there. With taakbeheer i removed engine3 and after that it worked again.

Grtzzzz

Just deleted a long post by accident to you Peter.  :(  Explaining how it appears here...

There is a pattern to be found....talking my set-up of course. But the pattern is worse showing than with 9K.

I think I have to repeat it tomorrow, and I will. Exhausted in this moment.  :heat:

Gerard, please put your setup in your signature ... (so I can draw conclusions better).

Gerard, thank you for the sig.

I don't think this is related to Gerner's problem. I can copy the behaviour you described. All is caused by too many presses of (e.g.) next within a short time.
Will be solved in the next version  :prankster:...

Yes this is likely to be the case.

I have hundreds of cases #3 stopping. In particular when I browse my folders and throw a track from here and there into the playlist and then press "next". But, not only that. I can open a music folder, drag all tracks into there and bweeeehh.

I will clean up all previous XX9's from the root, reeboot my FireFace and see what that does.

It is really worthwhile to get 9m-1 to run perfectly, as I cannot recall I had better source sound since I said goodbuy to my 15.000 grand turntable a decade ago.

Peter, the XX is, must, be close to digital Nirvana playback. It's such a joy to listen to it. But it is a headache to understand why it act differently in so many PC invironments.

Bert told me his is going non-stop perfect. My 9K did so to speak as well. But the 9m-1, not so.

Peter

I never had 9m going here, so I can't tell. But the 9K had far less problems.

Gerner,

Offline we "determined" that there would be a problem with diacritical marks. However ... not here.
Something must have changed to your system, but I can't think of what.

Since the real thing changed is the Processor Core Appointment ... do you have the same problems with the checkbox concerned (Settings tab) NOT checked ?

Peter,

I think I can confirm if tittle and tracks contains letters as "ãäçëö" #3 stops regardless pocessor core checked/unchecked. No other letters stops the #3.

I just did many tests now and it shows the same pattern.

1. Assuming you applied the Run As Administrator thing ... could you revert that and try again ?

2. Also, do you take the time to wait for the track with diacritical marks to load ? ... they take longer ...

3. Now I think of it, you might have .wav tracks in the \USERS\[your pc name] directory ... as explained in the Can't drag files from Explorer onto Playlist area  (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=131.0) topic.
Maybe look for this first ... which by itself would be related to the Run As Administrator thing. So if this is the culprit, either 1 or 3 would help, but 3 (and removing those wav files) would be the desired solution.

:scratching:

Tanks Peter for the attention.

To your 1 or 2 and 3...seems to me nothing is found guilty here.

But...here is something:

Let's take Björk's folders, just as an example:

Non of them I can load without #3 troubles. Those I cannot, I change the *ö* and rename it *o*. Then it loads perfectly.

There are though one folder with Björk, where I'm not allowed to change the file name.

Does that tell you anything?

Problem solved ...
Another Vista quirk; Some temporary file stayed without official notice.  :(

In the next version there will be anticipated on this.

No worries Peter...

Please also remember the red cross in the playlist window.
