Title: Is PA Engaging?
Post by: Scroobius on September 17, 2012, 07:57:07 pm
With 09-z7-3 I have set PA to engage after 1 SFS round. I press "start" and music starts to play then after a short while *~* shows correctly. However when *~* shows it is not accompanied by a "tick" or "plop" which I would expect to hear as the DC offset is applied. OK so after *~* is shown if I then change the volume up or down then I get a "click" as the volume changes - that is what I would expect as the DC offset is applied. So is PA actually working when *~* is first shown?

Hi Paul,

I don't get it. So now we associatie PA with ticks or anything, and when not there it is not good ?

:scratching:

Sorry !

For the conveniency of you all, this is how Phase Alignment is dealt with in 0.9z-7-3 :

Upsampled material into a "DAC Needs" = 32 bits : works.

Upsampled material into a "DAC Needs" = 24 bits : works, but is most probably not dealt with properly (ticks). Edit : does not work (but ticks at the end).

With Inverted Phase active, nothing is dealt with properly (Phase Alignment is not correct and ticks may be the result of that).

Native material (so, not upsampled) : does not work. It does not engage, but de-engages just the same (ticks).

24 bit material played onto a 16 bit DAC : same as above.

I just spent 30 hours on above issues and most of it is solved now. For 0.9z-7-4 all of these issues will be solved. Give it a few more days.

Regards,
Peter
