Title: Version N and source problems
Post by: LydMekk on October 18, 2007, 11:36:23 pm
After upgrading to the N version I'm experiencing sound heaven here! Goodie...

BUT, and there's a big one: It only accepts playing rips from EAC! .WAV rips from other programs, like MP11 can't be played in engine3. When clicking on Play there's a new small window opening displaying something like "Unable to open streams" and an OK button. Playing the same files in Engine 1 or 2 is ok.

Oh, yeah - Vista Premium - E6700 @ 3500Mhz - Q1=-3 Noinvert Noups Nodouble

And guess what: most of my collection, whish is only .wav files btw., is ripped in other programs than EAC... :(

Version J f.ex. plays these files without problems in Engine 3.

Okay, time to solve this for once and for all ...

But things are going on, of which I currently don't know what it is. So please help me a bit;

First of all people earlier (months ago) reported about what you just told, which is not consistent with "in 0.9j it was ok".
So : it would be helpful if you could determine the last version which was okay for you
On the other hand, you could skip this if you could email me the smallest track you can find, which should be sufficient to copy the behaviour (and please note I refuse to install/activate WMP on any machine I have, so now I'm not "able" to create those files :sorry:).

Do not cut the source, because
a. the program concerned will reassign the "header data" and it won't be a representative of the problem
b. when you'd really cut it (with an editor) the header data won't be consistent with the audio data.

Sidenote : Engine#1 and #2 as well as other software are able to deal with, say, inconsistencies because errors in the header data can be tweaked out during playback. In Engine#3 this, so far, was not done.

Thanks,
Peter

Thanks ....

Well, it took me some 8 hours to make something of it. Your example works, but maybe it's the only one ...
Please note that what WMP applies here is not a standard by any means. I don't know the deeper background of it, but sure what WMP makes of it, is not on any CD ...
See XXHighEnd Model 0.9o (Implements FLAC support) (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=231.0).
I hope it works now anyway ...
