Post by: JohanZ on October 17, 2012, 05:31:14 pm
Hi Peter,
When i start playback i sometimes get the following message : changeWP: error setting the wallpaper: A generic error occurred in GDI+. Music plays ok.
What is the reason of this message?
Regards johan

Hi Johan,

I can get this message too;
It is the coincidental going together of the WallPaper being changed from one part of the program (which is the "normal" part) and another part which changes the WallPaper to show Phase Alignment got engaged.

You can avoid it by changing the "SFS Rounds" before PA engages, although that's not really the intention of it all. But anyway it should help.

If you are not using PA then I don't have much of an answer at this moment.

Regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

I also get this message but then during installation. When I try to select the driver the message comes up and I cannot do anything anymore.. :( :(
For the time being had to go back to version 4..
Any idea?

Hein,

During installation ? installation of what ?
I'm afraid you must explain a few things more to me, because during "installation" this ChangeWP.exe is never executed.

Let me know,
Peter

Ok, thanks, Peter for your fast response.

I had 7-04 installed with minimized OS.
I switched off the 'minimize OS' in 7-04 and rebooted the system. User account control was switched off. I copied the files of 7-05 to a new directory and started up XXH. The 'normal' questions came about whether I wanted all the executables to be run (like XXHighend, Hotkey, changewp, etc). Normally you come then in XXHighEnd and make all your settings in the settings tab. I went to the settings tab and the first thing I wanted to put right is the driver but then the message came up about changeWP. I clicked run again but nothing happened. I had to cancel. Trying to select the driver again gave the same situation about ChangeWP..

Hope this helps...

Hein

Hmm ...

I think it will help when you start up 0.9z-7-4 once again and just quit it again.

Does that help ?
If so I know what to change ...

No sorry... :innocent:

After shutting down 7-04 also manually killed processes and services which have to do with XXH but the same problem occurred.
I looked more carefully now and the message "The publisher could not be.... changewp.exe" immediately appears when you get the 'warning' screen for a new installation that you have to set the music root, select the driver, etc
When I press run on the publisher message nothing happens anymore and the message doesn't disappear.
When I press cancel I get the message that the installation was not successful and errors will occur...
Once cancelled every time I try to select the device driver the publisher message pops up again.

Don't worry or hurry Peter, I'm still in love with 7-04..

Hein

Aha, now I recognize something ...
But also, something seems odd;

Can you make a screencopy of that "publisher" message ? if you can capture some more XXHighEnd-involved screens around it, please do (so I maybe can see in what stage you get the message).

Thanks,
Peter

Hi Peter,

I know this is an old topic, but the problem described so far is the same that I am having with the installation of 09z-9b.  As you can see from the attached image I am installing XXHighEnd for the first time on a new computer and get to this stage where I have a dialog box about a "publisher could not be verified" for ChangeWP.exe.  The RUN button does nothing, only the Cancel button works.  I am stuck!

Thanks,

Anthony

Cancel that Peter.  Here is how I fixed it (for others in this predicament):  every dialog box that comes up asking for permission to run something  UNCLICK the "ask me every time" button EVERY TIME.  Then everything runs fine.
