Title: USB Cable - Magic or placebo?
Post by: tillen on November 09, 2012, 09:17:06 pm
Hello you all
Just want to say a few words about my experiences with my new USB cable.
First the hardware: Entreq Konstantin 1 m 2400.- SEK. http://www.entreq.com/default.asp?PageId=2360.

The sound as ordinary USB-cable: - not worth the price, but much better than the black that usually following the Dac etc. on all parameters.
Entreq grounded at the pc-cabinet: Better, more relaxed sound - not laid back - just more quiet.
Grounded in my powercord`s ground. (I have ground cable for my electric environment around my house in 1m depth):
MAGIC!! what is this? the sound is so much better, with smoother hights, faster and more accurate bass and closer mid. And last but dont least, the sound stage is bigger, and everything is more relaxed.

Hey Arnt,

Maybe this is related to the HiFace and its "not the best" electrical levels ? So, at least the HiFace I exhibits too high electrical levels and if *then* noise is added, it will be more too high (this will cause more early and late triggering on the slopes of electrical waves which already tend to be early and late because of the too high levels -> jitter).
Your grounding may lower that noise, although that would happen with any USB cable I suppose ?

Peter

PS: What about the Double Octo Arc Prediction (= 16x) in your sig ? I guess that isn't correct ?

I think it might be so that it would be allmost the same with any usb cable, but I would certanly not have discovered it ;) The doble octo is wrong of course. Sorry.
