Title: Network Services
Post by: Scroobius on November 18, 2012, 10:05:14 am
I rip CD's on a separate PC and move them to my music PC by rebooting to normal full OS and then copying them over. But this is inconvenient and time consuming.

I would like to be able to move files in minimised OS mode but I cannot start network services. I press "LAN On" but it does not work the LAN does not start - is there anyway I can  the LAN on temporarily to transfer files. Alternatively is there a way I could a USB stick - even thought the 2 USB ports on my USB3 PCi card work I cannot see a USB stick when inserted.

Cheers Paul

Paul,

Network is a No. Unless you leave that On before going into Minimized and only after the reboot shut it off. Then the LAN button will make the network activate again (in minimilistic version). But it won't be as good as leaving it off all the way.

Your USB stick will work all right, if you only look via Explorer where it is. It will NOT pop up that "Autoplay" in Minimized - it is just there though.

I cannot see the USB stick. I have USB2 & 3 services disabled in BIOS. So none of the USB ports on the motherboard work - and that is a very good thing for SQ.

But I do have a USB3 PCi card with 2 USB3 ports one is used for the USB dongle for remote control (obviously can't pull that out). That leaves the USB3 port used for NOS1. If I pull out the NOS1 USB connector and plug in a USB stick - nothing is shown I cannot see the USB stick at all.

I think I recognize this. This is USB3 (anomaly ?). Boot it up with the stick in there I think, and a next time it will know it ? Or something like : stuff it in under Normal OS Mode, and next it will recognize it always ? ... there's just something odd with USB3 ...
