I can't make it work... back to 9z-75 (see error).

The popup window normally showing what I should do during the install does not show, the error mesage comes instead.

Followed the Release Notes. Should I uninstall other things first or is this out of my hands?

A new 0.9z-8a is up.
That was a stupid language dependent problem. Actually I was lucky to try it on a Dutch machine now (it would have been way difficult to find oterwise !).

At solving this error in the mean time I found a small bug in representing the "current figures" in the XTweaks. That is about the numbers between the braces () and the "Using all cores always" can show (10) which can not exist (it should show (0). That is all which is solved additionally in 0.9z-8a.

No problem for me to report errors back so here is another one:

Unattended does not play anything (waited for 3 minuted to play one track (1:30 minutes long) but no sound.

Attended works okay though.. andyes, activation is done properly as far as I can tell (red borders, PA engaged, able to set priorities, etc.)

No error message showed. Will engage logging...  ;)

Bert, try to lower your SFS. I myself currently have an issue when it is too high and in that case no sound comes from it at all (but an error message "Communication error with end point device" comes forward).

So when you have time tomorrow, fiddle around a bit and when it starts to work, let me know please when or how.

All installed activated and running great here. An unexpected and very welcome present. First impressions are of rich, deep, solid and very detailed sound. everything where is should be but with not the slightest possibility for fatigue. I don't know how you do this time and again but thanks !

I agree with others' impressions of the sound, *but*: Seems to me I hear the slightest "sizzle" in the upper midrange, and slightest "fuzz" in the lower midrange that was not there before.  Switched to my IEMs just to be sure it wasn't in the speakers or amp.

Test tracks were "Rich Woman" from the 24/96 HDTracks download of Alison Krauss/Robert Plant "Raising Sand"; "In the Bleak Midwinter" and "Joy to the World" from the Blind Boys of Alabama's "Go Tell It On the Mountain" (CD rip in my case, but available as a 44.1 download from Peter Gabriel's RealWorld label - utterly awesome music and of course seasonally appropriate); and "All Day and All Night" from Jakob Dylan's "Seeing Things" (Bob's son, very talented songwriter in his own right).

By the way - it's not impossible my, ehm, cheap preamp is responsible and I'm just now getting audio response that will tickle the bug, or clarity sufficient to hear it.  My computer I would consider less probable.

P.S.  Two administrative details - (1) Wouldn't activate despite several attempts.  Then at one point after I'd closed XXHE for some time, I happened to bring up Task Manager, which showed the activation process still running.  Ended the process with Task Manager, started up XXHE and it was successfully activated.  (2) I'm getting the message about "Device allocated but won't play" repeatedly.

If next issues arise then I will put that in another topic... Promise!

Figured out the problem. It seems that the option "Do not start playback" was activated. If Alt-P is not used then I can wait forever...

Stupidly this option does not affect attented playback hence the confusion... :-)

PS the first notes sound very promising! Very clean, sweet and spacious!

It is also all functioning very well with my system .
It also activated ok , Minimized ok ( incredible , I was waiting for that ) .
Fantastic software and the Xtweaks are just wonderful . In my system going to time performance index = obtimal , makes quite a big difference to the music .

Right, so of course on further experimentation it turns out to be my computer under the XTweaks settings.  The most critical one for me seems to be Cool When Idle.  If that's set to off, no balanced load setting sounds quite correct, lower ones having too little liveliness and higher ones having too much sizzle, with no happy medium.  Turning all the XTweaks off leaves things with the sound of -7, very nice but not up to -8.  If Cool When Idle is on, then a Balanced Load setting of 70 sounds about right on the liveliness scale - things "swing" nicely - without having the unacceptable level of sizzle that occurs if Cool When Idle is off at that load setting.  There is still just a very slightly perceptible edge, but since I can't seem to get rid of it entirely without turning off all the XTweaks and losing all the accompanying sonic benefits, this last little bit is acceptable to me right now.

With Cool When Idle on and Balanced Load at 70, the Stable Power setting doesn't make a huge difference, the Utilize Cores Always a bit more but still not a lot - both do sound slightly better when on, though, so that's where I have them.

I grabbed it about 3am local time before nodding off to sleep but didn't open it up. A quick check now revealed the elves forgot a magic widget and it had to be re-wrapped, but I've got it now and will have a play shortly, and report findings over next few days, in between cricket watching !

I happy everthing works well, I have also a jplay player for jriver for this moment for my wife,  youre player I just keep for my self begause it's the best in space and more micro information, just more music!!!!!!
I only  play on  special mode  with a firewire connection. and everthing minium.
