Title: Nice Stuff
Post by: charliemb on March 03, 2013, 11:29:26 pm
You might think this is a silly feature request, and it is for a normal PC with the full keyboard, but I have a palm sized Logitech wireless keyboard / controller and typing "c:\xxData\Nice stuff" in the box takes about 3 minutes, including getting up and turning on the lights.

And with that as background, my feature request is a single button or otherwise an easy way to get to the Nice Stuff directory.

I see what you mean. But to me it seems that we better seek for some easier manipulation in the Explorer Treeview which is in the left part of the screen ? (which actually lets itself manipulate with arrow keys and Enter).

One thing : Possibly you have not set up all in a consistent fashion. I mean, if you really have your Nice Stuff folder under the XXData folder (doesn't seem correct to begin with) I can suspect that you did not setup *all* in Galleries (while Nice Stuff is such a Gallery). When you indeed did not do that, you can't access all from that Treeview and it becomes a messy thing to switch (disks actually).

?

Peter

correct, I have no galleries (other than a nice stuff and demo directory).  I already had a hard disk full of music and that's organized simply how HDtracks downloads to a folder, and stemming from there.  I was using JRiver, and still do for .dsf.

It's under xxData because it is xx related.

So for me the tree view on the lest would not work unless you gave me a special button which transferred the tree to my nice stuff directory.

So, good idea (and to be honest, merely for the tablet-remote where I sure missed something like this myself). This is what I made of it (for 0.9z-8-3) :

[ U ]
Goes Up one level in the Tree of Embedded Explorer. This is actually the Back button which disappeared unintentionally per 0.9z-7.

[ M ]
Shows the Music Root, hence the Music Root as set in Settings.

[ D ]
Shows the Demo Gallery.

[ N ]
Shows the Nice Stuff Gallery.

[ R ]
This one is special, since it shows the last obtained "root" (but actually folder) asked for by means of using the button you see below in the bottom-right corner (see mouse pointer) :

In my case this was I:\FLAC\ and no matter I did that yesterday, today it still knows that and brings it back when the [ R ] is used.

[ B ]

Quite self-explanatory. But also look here :

and where this right-click (see bottom of ToolTip) leads to :

So, for example that {{C}}Galleries}}Demo}} is stored as a Gallery Result List which already happens automatically for each Gallery Result which contains more than 200 items and as the result of using the Search button. And, since even a Saved Library Result List with 500,000 items pops back within a tenth of a second, this means that once *any* folder has been searched with a somewhat longer waiting (because more than 200 albums present) can be retrieved later with blasting speed, and all automatically. It just needs the "by accident" asking for the contents of the folder again through the Tree from Embedded Explorer (which happens by clicking (or Enter) on the Folder Icon in there) and it is recognized that a Saved Library Result List exists for it, and it is retrieved from there.

Confused ? why telling this all ? well, because the mechanism used for toggling the "roots" is based upon these same Saved Gallery Result Lists and once we start to quickly "toggle", quickly means quickly and not waiting a minute until your 30,000 albums are finally visible in the Library Area. 0.1 seconds really is enough ...

Do notice that once you were aquainted with Saved Gallery Result Lists you by long had made a Saved Result List for you main Music Root (which should be the root of the Gallery you made for all you music on all your disks disks) and retrieve that back through rightclick on the [ F ] button, but ... this is not obvious to most. From now on this goes automatically and all you need to do is click on the [ M ] button in Embedded Explorer and there it pops back, no matter how large your music collection is.

Peter,
that is really FANTASTIC!
I am using the Right-Click F a lot.
Thank you,
Eric
