Title: Win7: failed to set sample rate
Post by: JohanZ on July 02, 2013, 11:21:50 pm
I'm using 09z-9b

This evening i was playing with all kind of settings. When i went back to the original setting xxhe did not start caused by a message. I did a restart, rebooting nothing works. Every time after the play command i get "failed to set sample rate" . When i accept this message i get a new message "xxengine3.exe has stopped working". I'm lost. This for me the first time that i cant fix it...grrrrr
Starting the previous version, that works. Help!
Johan

Johan,

I think a too low Q1 (etc.) can imply this message too. And this is not so obvious ...

Hi Peter,

I normally use Q1= 30 and Q1Factor=10. I changed it to Q1=14 and Q1Factor=1, but no effect on this message.

Johan

Johan, do you mean that you went back to a previously saved .XXSI file ?
If so, try to find an old one from a previous XXHighEnd version (preferrably the one-but oldest) and put that in your XX folder.
But if you did not go back to a previously save .XXSI file, I don't know (yet).

No. I tried to changed the Q values manually without any effect on this error message.

Indeed this fixes the problem. Thanks! I'm back in the latest version of XXHE. Is there a explanation what damaged the original .XXSI files?

Best Regards, Johan

Johan,

I am not so sure the .XXSI file was damaged. All what you did (now) was using a settings combination which worked before (and thus still does), while possibly you changed something in the not-working one and you did not see that (forgot).

What also can happen (but very rare !) is that wrong (buffer etc.) settings imply that the NOS1 malfunctions. I am not sure whether pulling the USB cable is enough or that a whole switch Off/On is needed, but in such a situation at least the latter is the solution. So ... what can have happened is that your switching of .XXSI files went along which such a "reset procedure" by coincidence (pulled the cable for whatever reason etc.). Btw a reboot would be the same as pulling / putting in the USB cable.

Last one : By implying situations which won't play, XXEngine3 can get into a status that it never will work again; Kill it, and it is reset. That too can have happened (by you, or reboot) when you exchanged the files.

Oh well, it works again !
