Title: XTweaks problem
Post by: arvind on August 22, 2013, 03:43:00 pm
Hi Peter,

Since a week I am having the problem of Time Stability & Time Performance Index not being activated. Previously when I clicked on refresh, Time Stability became Stable & TPI was optimum when I clicked on change.

No change from my end elsewhere. Rebooting does not help.

Any thoughts on this?

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Arvind,

Not really an idea on this one;
Notice though that the "change" of either setting implies a reboot automatically (at least that is what I recall).

"Change" should not be used to check these settings. "Refresh" does. Otherwise you keep on changing. And btw, without reboot (assumed that is possible) it will go back and forth when attempted twice and nothing will change in effect.

Hope this "solves" it.
Peter

Hi Peter,

Time Stability is activated by clicking on Refresh. In my case it isn't getting activated. This doesn't require reboot.

Time Performance Index requires reboot when activated. However when I click to activate it, nothing happens. Normally it should ask me to reboot.

Best regards,

Arvind

Arvind hi,

I had the same happening here a while ago. For me it was fixed by going from minimised OS to normal OS and back to minimised again. After doing this time stability and time performance index toggled fine including XX forcing a reboot.

Might be worth a try.

Cheers,

Nick

Ps I think that I need to click the XX Tweaks "refresh" button each time I play music to obtain best sound. I had meant to ask Peter if this is likley to be placebo or if there could be some logic in this.

Both Time Stability and Performance Index are not activated by means of Refresh. Refresh is only needed to show the status. That really is all.

Peter,

Thanks for confirming,  must be a placebo effect.

Cheers,

Nick

Hi Nick,

Going from Min OS to normal & back to min solved the problem.

To get Time Stability to Stable I have to click Refresh every time I start XXHE.

Thanks for the solution.

Arvind

Arvind,

Do you suggest that it says "not stable" without this Refresh ? I can't imagine, but if so this should be a bug.

Thanks,
Peter

Peter hi,

I "think" this maybe what I may be finding as well. When xx starts time stability says something like unknown (I am travelling at the moment so cannot check exactly). Click "refresh" and it goes to stable. Could be placebo but I think sound improves after hitting refresh.

Nick.

Hi Peter,

As Nick mentioned, when you start XX Time Stability doesn't show Stable. Refresh it & it shows Stable.

So all this while I assumed that you need to refresh at starting XX.

Arvind

Hi Arvind,

Time Stability shows "(Use Refresh)" at first, and if it were for me it has always done that. This is because it takes somewhat more time to sort out the setting. I think the ToolTip concerned will tell so(mething like that) as well.

Time Performance Index shows always up to date.

So, Refresh does nothing else than sorting out the current setting. It changes nothing ... (except the screen text).

Peter
