Title: Does someone recognize this ? - can use some help
Post by: PeterSt on December 30, 2013, 09:08:44 am

Right after an install it can happen that the XXHighEnd screen looks like you see it below. Maybe I'm not talking so much about the wrong positioning of some buttons - it is about the colours;

I have seen this once or twice myself and I can't recall what I did to solve it, but for customers running into this, the only solution seems to reinstall.
For the upcoming version I am trying to solve/prevent this, but I need to be able to mimic it and I can't. I can't even tell where those odd colours come from since it has never been programmed like that.
I have the feeling or hunch that it can be related to odd resolutions or TV screens used - at least that is where I saw it happening with customers more than once.

If anyone can help me with the rationale of this I would be very thankful. And if you can help, please respond as soon as possible. Already the fact that you saw it "once" can be helpful and with more of us we might be able to find common denominators.

Thanks in advance !
Peter

Hi Peter,

I'm using a tv display and had only one time the problem of strange colors. But once in a while the different display areas are shifted / reduced / overlayed. It's ok again after logging out / logging in.

Hey Peter,

This screen is not possible 'right after XXHE installation'. This pic indicates that Skin Settings /S/ is used and 'Standard images for Playback Buttons' check box checked.
As for the background color - think it depends and varies in accordance to album 'Folder.jpg' prevailing color. I'v seen this color (change) although with earlier version(s) of XXHE.
Presently not using any styling at all, it slows down (already slow, sorry) XXHE visual response at least w/ graphic card I have at the moment.

Best,
George

Hi Ed,

That seems like it !
But I don't really understand what you did there. So, any baby steps for me which may copy this exhibit ?

- All was right;
- Then I ...
- When I next ...
- ...
- Then I saw the screen suddenly like this.

(and yes George, I agree it looks like having used [ S ] but that isn't the cause ...)

I just haven't the slightest imagination what can cause this.
Thanks !!
Peter

Peter,
I copied a Live recording I did to a "plastic"CD. It did not work on a laptop, so I put it in my Yamaha rip-machine, brought the PC to 'normal state' and tried to play the CD over the USB front connection of my audiocomputer using the 'windows mediaplayer'. That made one big mess off  XXHighEnd eventually. Graphics like you showed them and activation gone aswell.

Thank you very much Ed.

I still can't imagine what happens and how, but at least we have a reason for it.

Can it be so that you associated WAV/FLAC (etc.) to XXHighEnd.exe and that somehow XXHighEnd got fired up while you actually wanted to use Windows Media Player ?

Not that we really need to work this out, but it is just totally beyond me what can have happened, and that includes loosing your Activation (I never heard of that, and this strange coloured screen always happens to first time users who obviously were not Activated yet).

Btw, I feel a relation with Windows Media Player which "wants" to establish network stuff (I recall that even a service is going to run for that forwever). So, if you recognize that WMP tried to organize that for you with some kind of wizard, that possibly can have destroyed things, although I must think hard on the how exactly. But in that case you must have started WMP for the first time on your audio PC (I think you did).

Anyway, great thanks for you help Ed.
Regards,
Peter
