Title: Font Size Too Small
Post by: coliny on January 01, 2014, 09:23:29 am
Font size has suddenly gone from OK to unreadably small in XXHE. W7 desktop has not changed and I have not changed Control Panel settings so its just an XXHE issue. It occured a couple of days ago in 0.9 and reboots into Normal OS or Minimized OS have not fixed it. Just installed 1.186 but it has the same problem.

Happy New Year
Colin

Hi Colin,

Do you have your Monitor Font Size set different than to 100% (like 125% of 150% or custom) ?
Just want to know ...

Regards and a Happy New Year to you too,
Peter

PS: Once this happens, how do you reset it ?

Colin,

Reading it again, it now seems to me that this happened a few days days ago to you, and you're just stuck now ?

If that is so, you just as well can have accidentally hit (I think) System Preset #2 (the [ 2 ] button in the left hand border). #1 is the default so using that should bring all back to normal.

Otherwise the [ S ] button is for Scaling, and there you can enter the Scaling Factor (default is 1.4).

So I think that just something "normal" happened, and it's only that you're not aware of this.

?

Peter

monitor size is 100%

I reinstalled 1.186 and font size is now OK

0.9 however is still small font size, nothing I've tried fixes it.

Regards
Colin

Not even the Scaling ? Hard to imagine.
Can you show a screenshot of it please ?

No, that doesn't look like anything normal.

See first attachment and the mouse arrow. That's the [ S ] button (yea, hard to find the "S" for you).

Then see the 2nd attachment, with for me unsure whether that screen (appearing after pressing tthat S) also is so small. Anyway, see the line with the mounse arrow again. The box to the left of it needs this scaling factor. Now careful (if you actually can't read it); best is to try to clear the field, enter only a 1 (so not a dot or comma), press tab and then click that button where the arrow is.
That should bring your screen in Scale 1 which is readable enough to enter the proper value (default 1.4).
I am saying it like this, because I don't know whether your PC accepts comma or decimal point and when you enter the wrong, things may get wildly large. So once when at 1 you can see what you are doing.

If this doesn't help, shoot back.

Btw, I have never seen happening such a thing (from anyone).

PS: Once back in business, notice the [ 1 ] and [ 2 ] buttons in the top, which can be dragged to have the proportions of the screen parts to your likings again.
Also, after rescaling, always quit and restart to see the real result.
