After a play command i get the following message : <failed to set sample rate> after accepting this message i get the message <xx engine 3.exe has stopped working>. What did i do wrong.
I have first selected  the preselection 70560 APon| 23800 preferred filter. With activated <Custom filter>

Hi Johan,

This must be unrelated to the Filter.
Can you easily prove that without changing anything else, switching between Custom and AP (and back) does not behave the same regarding this message ?

Regards,
Peter

Indeed AP gives the same message.

Any suggestions?

That is something ...
Nothing different from when this happens in other situations ?
Most obvious would be that you deactivated "Is NOS1".

And always kill the sound engine (blue led) after such a thing happened; that assures that a next attempt won't go wrong because of some anomaly in the previous.

After a restore of the original files i got a new message Settings Preset File in use was corrupted. After loading an older file all was working again. Placing the new filter files all works. First impression sounds goood!

Hi Peter,
Today again (not related to the new filter!) a new error message "allocate Kerner streaming audio device" - Devide allocated but can't play. Check dac settings, applied sample rate- After ok i get a message 4/32/768000/12288000/16.

Reset the system and start again xxhe the following message appears <failed to set sample rate>. The only way to fix this error is to load in the xxhe setup an older preset file.

Any suggestions to prevent this sort of errors?

Best regards Johan

Johan,

Most probably this is about mixing preset files in the first place, but actually anything can happen once in a while with the presets. But this is how the auto-backups (each day) are there now. So good that you find those.

Since this version I encountered one single occasion (wel, that I have heard of) who needed the backup similarly to your needs for it, but in your case something else must have gone first earlier on (something with the install). But I would not bother about that (not any more).
Still the last error you reported is to be observed for happening again, because if now suddenly your presets get corrupted all the time something else is wrong. But here too, not to worry. Not yet; we can always worry later when it appears necessary. Ok ?  :)

Regards,
Peter

Are you even sure that the Audio Device (in XXHE Settings) did not change to the HiDef or whatever Audio Device ?

When all was running again well, I switched back to AI, again there were errors about failled to set sample rate. Loading again preset file and all is working again. Grrrrrrrrrr back to AI now working!

You said with AI. This was no mistake ?
I mean with Custom this can happen.

OK, with AI too, but now better raise about all "SQ" parameters because of the size of the files (which are huuuuge).

I switched back to custom, tracks play now until the end. Ps. i hear some small cracks during the sound in the right channel. Did i use an old version of the filter files? I wil download it again and replace them.

What parameters are you suggestion to rais in AI?

Johan

You will need the -i version to avoid the ticks. In that Filter topic on page five. Next (my) post under the picture.

Like I said, all (and then work your way back). Maybe your PC can't even do  it at all or not from normal disk (RAMDisk yes, if you have the memory).
Johan, please ...
