Title: Oddiophile on youtube
Post by: Arjan on October 05, 2014, 10:52:24 am
Hi,
Did any of you ever seen the youtubes of Oddiophile?
It is from the Virtual Dynamics company but not really sales promotion. Some of the tips and tricks seems really helpful.
Saw some about power cords and brass screws on speaker drivers. Also the remarks on connectors seems to make a lot of sense to me.
regards, Arjan

Arjan,

Thanks, I watched the vid and then found 7 out 8 drivers in my speakers had very slightly lose screws when I checked them. The lose screws tended to make a small crack as they moved and tigheded bout a 8th of a turn. I have never checked the screws in 16 years of owning the speakers...

The end result is that bass is tighter music is snappier and siblence and sharpness I the hights has virtually gone.

Great tip.

Nick.

There is a very good speaker manufacturer here in Australia that has progressed from brass to copper driver screws. Apparently it was something that he wanted to try for quite some time and he got one of the local golden ears to come in and blind test to see if it was a crazy notion.  End result is that he now offers kits to upgrade his older speakers.

Be very careful to tension of the driver screws carefully to their proper value...very important.

Anthony

I think it's the same Rick Shultz from Hi-Fi cables. I've have plenty of discussion with him about his cables and technology. I've used his speaker cables before .  :pleasantry: Peter has heard them   :pleasantry:
