Title: MQA: The next big thing or the flavor of the month?
Post by: esimms86 on February 15, 2015, 06:03:53 pm
Meridian Audio's Bob Stuart is launching his new creation, MQA(master quality authenticated) and the preliminary reports from the folks at Stereophile seem to be quite promising. A perhaps oversimplified explanation for MQA is that it focuses on getting the time domain(as opposed to the frequency domain) right and this is enough to make our brains believe that we are listening to the master. I haven't actually heard MQA in action but I would be interested in reading reports from non-industry folks who've had a listen.

From an NOS1a standpoint, embracing this new design(and that, of course, comes with a huge IF) would mean paying a licensing fee for putting MQA compatibility into either XXHE or the NOS1a.

Here's a none too subtle link(from a marketing standpoint) for folks to read to get this conversation started. Oh, and the standard disclaimer to the effect that I am not a Meridian employee, investor or fan boy.
