Kjell Narve,

I am fairly sure you are not Activated.
The procedure you applied (as told per PM) does not work. So you were not properly activated to begin with.

Regards,
Peter

Hello Peter,

I just had the same problem.I had no troubles with XX 2.00 but started using XX 2.01 today and noticed it stops after couple of tracks.

I think it activated correctly because I can change the Core Appointment setting. Is that still true?

Thanks,

David

Same here (almost...) I am activated (2.01) when I start from C:\ but not activated when I start from RAMdisk.

This with a copy of the new XXfolder into RAMdisk.

After a few reboots it does work out fine in the end.

Bert

When I enter the activation code from 2.00a, it says done.

But the title bar remains blue.

Means noch activated?

Nope, RED title bar means activated. After "Done" you should play and reboot before the RED appears.

Or get a new activation code (as suggested within the release note of version 2.01)

Had a successfully activation, but I loaded a preset file from the previous XXHighEnd version.
Always red title bar when running from C:, but when using RAMdisk it was not red all the time, it changed.
New code will fix the issue for me.

ok, the new activation key did the magic.

it is just really strange that the old key seemed to work but did not activate.

Hi David,

No not really. I'd say reading the Activation Email is sufficient to understand. And this is so since ... I forgot (years).

Best regards,
Peter

Title: Re: Music stops, unattended XX 2.01 - RAMDisk hints
Post by: PeterSt on May 27, 2015, 08:38:53 am

Who found out the RAMDisk stuff ? :swoon:

The main problem with some is that they think they can improve by means of automated RAMDisk saving options etc. while this doesn't bring anything but misery because of next not understanding what is really happening. Not that anyone really has to understand everything, but the so-called "improvement" is your own and not advised to begin with; all is self-contained or at least should be hence this is the intention.
So for example - Reboot ? when a reboot helps "you" did something very strange and it can only be RAMDisk related (I mean, if you are 100% sure that this helps). There is totally completely 100% sure nothing that requires a reboot in order to be activated. Thus if there is, it is your own procedure, never mind you don't recognize it.

No RAMDisk data should be auto-saved and no RAMDisk should be automatically initialised at boot-up. Especially the latter is asking for trouble, because now you can be sure XXHighEnd is running in there and it is out of your control what to really do unless you 100% understand what is going on, which, again, is desired from nobody.

But don't forget to fill the field in Settings "Copy Settings to" with your permanent storage XX Folder.
Also don't forget that XXHighEnd is not only the XX folder but also the XXData folder. So that too needs to be copied to the RAMDisk. It *is* allowed to denote your XXData folder (in Settings) as C:\XXData\ but you must understand that this is not correct for "complete RAMDisk" operation and it thus should be \XXData\ (which uses the drive from where XXHighEnd started which can be the RAMDisk).

Btw, 95% of the Activation problems spring from not reading the Activation Email. Please notice that this is even two-folded : You may not follow up what's in there (precisely) but you may also not read what is to be watched for (and next hope you will be Activated ?). 95% ? yes, something like that. So for all participants in this topic this counts. Even for Bert (but that case is a most sneaky one and I didn't tell you, Bert).

Of course I am not blaming anyone. But in the end I have to anticipate my own advices (e.g. the RAMDisk stuff) plus a text of which I assume it is followed up. I know, this all shouldn't be so difficult, but I won't say that RAMDisks are not allowed, either.
So I hope this post helps a few others !

Best regards,
Peter

All working nicely, when not loading old preset files..

Do not load preset files from previous xx version. !!! at least that seems to cause problems over here.

2.xx version is just a BIG step up from previous, love it!

Yes, I must be honest :

When the Presets were made ever back, I had in mind that they could be used for getting back settings from previous versions. Nice idea, but this can't work if in the mean time for whatever reason a new Activation happened. So this resets things and when you then revert to an old settings file this resetting gets undone and things are mixed up.
I know this for a very long time but for this version I forgot to build in a (planned) protection against this. ToDo list was too long I guess ...

I'm still having trouble but it may be because I applied the presets before activation. Once the title bar turns red, is it still not advised to go back to the old presets?

Hi David,

Especially in that case not, no. But to be on the safe side, better don't do it at all. It is difficult for me to tell and I am sorry about that.

Once you are activated, say per "now", and the day after tomorrow you want to revert to a preset from "after now" then this is normally allowed without problems.

Peter

Thanks Peter,

I started the process over and now XX 2.1 is up, running and activated without any problems.

Best,

David
