Title: Ram disk xx desktop icon
Post by: Robert on June 29, 2015, 08:02:31 am
Hi Peter,
I've just activated your ram disks. Just one question I've created an xxhighend ramdesk icon and the startin is a\xxhighend. Do I leave the target as c\xxhighend.201\xxhighend.exe? I notice this won't attach to the bar?

Hey Robert,

Supposed your XX folder in A: is (indeed) A:\XXHighEnd\
The the Start In is the same as that, thus also A:\XXHighEnd\

The target is in that same A:\XXHighEnd\ folder, thus A:\XXHighEnd\XXHighEnd.exe

Does this answer your question ?

Yes xx folder is ram A. In icon properties box I have a:\xxhighend in startin but when I try to put in target which was c:\xxhighend.201\xxhighend.exe and changed to
a:\xxhighend\xxhighend.exe it says path is invalid and won't work. Perhaps I have not setup Rama properly. I made a new icon and this had the same issue.

Dit you already copy your XX folder (plus subfolders) from (somehere on) C: to that A:\XXHighEnd\ folder ?
If not - you must do that first. So that is in fact your .bat file with the copy commands in there.

Also check whether the files indeed are in that A:\XXHighEnd\ location as you expect, after running the .bat file. If not, then your .bat file is not correct.

If it is not clear, let me know.

Yes I think I have copied right files. XXhighend will not start still. I have emailed you.

You were right did not have all XXhighend files going to "a" ram drive from "c". All go now. thanks

Hi Peter,
Just one more problem in the second to last paragraph
in the Ram setup instructions it says "in XXhighend settings" to set \XXData to c:XXData. Where exactly in xxhighend settings do I do this?

Ram is working in both data and xxhighend on playback but I'm not saving my remote tablet xxhighend screen settings. I presume its these settings to copy "A" data and "A"xxhighend settings back to "C" to use again. I have set the C\xxhighend in preset but not the data.

Using XXhighend in Ram is definitely better SQ so running the OS in Ram must be even better as you have demonstrated.

I just installed a RAMDrive and was surprised at such a positive difference it made with the NOS1a.  I'm running an Alienware laptop with 16 gigs of memory.  The other thing which made a significant improvement in sound quality is placing Synergistic Research MIGS under the laptop.  If anyone has a chance, try it. I'd be curious if you have the same result.
Cheers.

Robert,

It is c:\data and not c:data. This is in the XXData field.

Otherwise in Copy Settings To you must enter your XX folder on C:.
