Title: Nos1a: Driver Signing instructions (driver1.04)

Phasure NOS1a owners only (important) :
In Settings there's a new button in the Output Section tagged "Driver Signing". This button needs to be set to "Drivers need not be signed" when the 1.04 Driver has been installed on Windows 8 (or higher). A necessary reboot wil be the effect.
The text on the button itself will at first show "Refresh" and clicking it will show the current state. Next the text on the button will show "Change" and once the button is now clicked again, a reboot is required; not doing so (like clicking the button again) will make the state unreliable until a reboot happens. So always reboot right after an attempt to change.
(and change back to the necessity to work with signed drivers is possible just the same; but there's no real reason for this)
Do this (set to "Drivers need not be signed" + reboot) before installing the new driver
Hi Peter,
I don't understand your instructions.
First you see "driver signing" status value with a questionmark. After activating the <change>button you get the status "Drivers need not be Signed". After <change> Again I get a dialog box telling me "this change only takes effect after a Reboot!". After the <ok> I see the status changing in : Change pending, but nothing happens. What next???

Regards johan

 :rules: :heat:   :scratching:

After two attempts the driver 1.04 is running under W10 (10240) Great improvement. My wife asked immediately  "Did you change something, very clean sound" :)  :thankyou: Peter

The SQ with this driver is a major step forwards.

Hi Joachim,

All I can say is : interesting !

Let's say that I am not aware of this, BUT that at some stage I seriously thought that I did something to the software itself; of course this is long ago by now, so I really can't tell any more.
But it very well can be ...

Thank you and regards,
Peter

Hey Johan,

Next is that required reboot !

It is my advice to you to once more check the status after the reboot, because you may have pressed the button several times because of being confused. So if the status is "Drivers need to be signed" then apply the sequence one more time.

Regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,
So the next steps are:
1 Leave the setting page of XXHE;
2 Select via right mouse click in the <stop>-button the "reboot" option.

After a reboot what will be the status of Driver signing 'button' ?
Is there a soundeffect when I don't follow these driver assigning steps?

Johan

Johan,

Sound effect ? yes, I guess so;
When the Driver does not install you will have no sound at all.

Haha !

Peter

Hi,

after the reboot in XXH the note "Drivers need not be signed" was not shown, the button on the right side shows "Change", press this button and the note "Drivers need not be signed" appears and then you shall start the driver installation without touching anything in XXH. In my case the installation works with this procedure.
You will see a note such like "no certified driver" during the installation, but you go on ..... .

Well ...

Joachim, now *that* looks confusing !!
So if it really works like that, then no wonder. However :

Although it is difficult for me to check at this moment, I don't think I made it like that. There's a "refresh" procedure for the status - maybe by means of the general Refresh button, possibly by means of clicking the button one time while it says "refresh" at first.

So ?

Peter

During the installation of Win 10 I did the installation of the 1.04 driver without the Signing instructions in XXHE. But all works great.

Do I understand it clear that this signing procedure is only necessary as part of a installation procedure of the 1.04 driver?
After Coens remark yesterday I did an deinstallation of the driver and an attempt to followed these signing instructions without succes. (No Changing status) After an new installation of the driver (without XXHE interaction) all works again (sound). But no changed signed status.

I have some trouble to understand the instructions e.g. "Do this (set to "Drivers need not be signed" + reboot) before installing the new driver"

Hi,

1) start XXH,no note "Drivers need not be signed" is shown,  and button shows "Refresh"
2)  press "Refresh"
3) and note "Drivers need not be signed" appears
4) and then reboot
5) start XXH again
6) no note "Drivers need not be signed" is shown but button shows "Change"
7) press "Change" and note "Drivers need not be signed" appears again
8 ) install driver 1.04 (leaving XXH in the background without touching anything in there.)

with this sequence I got 1.04 installed.

Joachim

P.S. Sometimes we do have to perform strange steps to outwit obstacles with reluctant software/hardware combinations

Thank you Joachim.

But no, this does not make sense. Here's my copy of your text, with remarks in between it :

1) start XXH,no note "Drivers need not be signed" is shown,  and button shows "Refresh"
2)  press "Refresh"
3) and note "Drivers need not be signed" appears
4) and then reboot
reboot ? why ? you did not change anything.
5) start XXH again
6) no note "Drivers need not be signed" is shown but button shows "Change"
Maybe, but I see no reason why not again "refresh" shows on the button. So I think you have it wrong here. ;)
7) press "Change" and note "Drivers need not be signed" appears again
8 ) install driver 1.04 (leaving XXH in the background without touching anything in there.)

From the top of my head, here's my list :

Keep in mind, this assumes a fresh situation, and not pressing buttons without really knowing what to do first.

1) Watch button description, and see that it shows "Refresh". So click it.
2) Description will show "Drivers need to be signed" (similar) and button will show "Change".
3) Click button and reboot (description will show "Pending").
Done. But to be sure :
4) After the reboot, watch button description, and see that it shows "Refresh". So click it.
5) Description will show "Drivers need not to be signed" (similar)

That simple it is ...
(ahum)

Regards,
Peter
