Title: Fight the Tinnitus
Post by: listening on October 04, 2015, 11:03:45 am
Hi Peter,

this time I have a slightly different proposal. Some of the music lovers are plagued by tinnitus temporarily or permanently as somebody in my family. Is a function possible, which filters out tinnitus frequencies measured by the audiologist?

Cheers,
Georg

Wohw ...

Georg, I think I know what you are heading for, but the proposal is difficult to understand at this moment.

Let's first "state" (?) that Tinnitus is something in your head. Btw, this is not 100% sure for me, but at the same time people seem to suffer from it because of hearing damage. And besides that, it is said that the "beep" is caused by ear damage. This would make it not to be from your head.
Important ?
Maybe, but now I don't know enough about it.

Then :

... this is the part where I don't understand your proposal as of now. It is also why I said "it is from your head", or IOW / better : it springs from within yourself, and it is not a better/louder captured (environmental, like music) frequency. Or is it ?? If it is after all then my answer should be "yes, theoretically possible". If not, then possible "anti-sound" may help (same frequency emphasized but in opposite phase). Far sought ...

Now we are going to wait for our MD who knows all about this, or at least 1000 times more than I do. I hope he will respond.

Best regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

we got the basic idea from there http://www.tinnitracks.com/en/news/tmnmt-provider.

Hi Georg,

Yeah, that suggests that it is about the pickup of environmental sound (emphasized in certain frequencies). But I know so few about it that I wonder whether that is correct.
Haha.

Our MD (specialized in our auditorial system) is not present this week (he told me).

So you see, now I know more about it (namely 10 seconds of reading more than 10 seconds ago :)) and now I don't believe the "solution" for sure.

But maybe it is deep-scientific stuff.

Nah,

Won't work at multiple levels for XXHE. None of those work with speakers, headphone specific. First of all Peter will not allow noise generation by XXHE.

The technology itself May have some benefit as Neuromonics desesenitization, acoustic generator or auditory habituation. Every one of these is highly specific in terms of technology and application.

OK, thought that simple filter would give some relaxation. Did not have in mind something like a therapy.
