Title: 22 | When the On Screen Keyboard does not show
Post by: PeterSt on November 11, 2015, 11:55:37 am
We have seen it happen that the XXOSK.exe starts all right, shows on the taskbar but next is not visible anywhere.
Note : This can happen when the Operating System disk is moved from one PC to another PC, and the display drivers on the other PC do not really match the last-used on the first PC - this can be real practice when obtaining an OS disk from Phasure.
(btw, a wrong screen aspect ratio may tell you that a wrong(ly set) display driver is in order).
What will have happened is that the OSK is displayed outside of the monitor's boundaries. So it is there but you can not see it.
Do this to solve it :

Start Task Manager;
In the Processes Tab (Windows 8 and Windows 10) click the arrow to the left of the OnscreenKeyboard process. This shows one process "Keyboard" under it;
Richtclick that and choose Maximise.

The OSK will now appear in the top left corner of the screen and the further background of the desktop looks grey-ish. This latter is because the borders of the OSK (which are grey) are now all maximised. The further trick now is this :

Close the OSK by means of the [X] button;
Restart it as you'd normally do.
Now it again appears in the top-left corner, but not maximised.
You can drag it now to the position of your liking and resize it how you want it to be, as usual.
