Title: Build 10074 will not find NAS
Post by: dsm on November 25, 2015, 10:20:40 pm
Hello,

I have installed build 10074 twice and each time I am unable to get it to connect to the NAS music. I do not have any trouble making the connection on the newer builds.

Is it not making the connection because 10074 needs to be backdated ( I use Sept 6th)? Has anyone else had trouble with that build connecting to their NAS?

Thanks,

David

Ha, I am having the exact opposite problem...W10074 has been no problem finding the NAS but installing W10586 is problematic in that regard.  At this moment I am installing W10586 for the second time to see if I can get it to work.

Yes I've had the same issue. I think the NAS(I'm using another computer) needs the same date as the Audio server to network. I could see the NAS when the date was current for both, but 10074 won't work until the date is put back to September. XXhighend was in Min OS. I havn't done anything further as I'm still deciding about updating to 2.03.

Peter perhaps a quick support blog on how one should go about networking with a NAS or other computer with music files.

My Netgear NAS is working just fine in 10074 with the different dates on different computers on the network.

I managed to get my NAS identified, or at least partially in 10586.  In the end I resorted to mapping a network drive (which I would prefer not to do) and manually typed in the address and share that I wanted to access...

\\192.168.1.2\Music

...seemed to work.  Just try with the IP address of your NAS.  In FileExplorer it appears as a normal HDD attached to your computer.

Hope this helps.

Sadly I don't/can't have any because a NAS is not my thing; you can see why. :swoon:
It's just computers and they do what they were made to do - always in a different and so-called intelligent fashion.

Sorry, but while the general idea of networking works, it is the NAS that doesn't support something. Of course it is (poor) W10 related too but one just can't tell.

Best indeed would be to use the IP address - same thing as with RDC. I don't know whether the same protocol is used (may depend on the NAS again) but if so it is easy to see how W10 is debet to this all. Like 10240 does not allow RDC in Normal OS (MinOS is fine). Or how 10586 breaks the RDC connection in Normal OS and Unattended (but shut off the same services as for MinOS); this connection won't come up again - only with a Reboot. With MinOS again no problem.

Things which don't want to work in Normall OS with no Services shut off (like for Unattended) are just not right or compatible. Sadly this can easily be W10 itself.

:sorry:

Peter

I changed the date in bios and build 10586 and had no trouble connecting to the NAS. It seems the date should not be a problem.

I'm going to re-install 10074 one more time...
