Title: Tidal "Search"
Post by: Tore on November 27, 2015, 09:22:17 am
In scandinavia we have the letters æ, ø and å in the alphabet.
Many artist have this letters in the artist-name.

To me it looks like it is not posible to search for artist with these letters

Example: Hanne Kolstø

Ah, good point Tore.

Well, there's so much more strangenessess in there ... you don't want to know.

Anyway, *can* you find Hanne Kolstø, and if Yes, how ? Maybe normal Hanne Kolsto ?

I will try to find a solution but I need some hints.

Do / did you also use the normal Tidal Player interface ? How would you find that Artist in there ? Also not possible ?

Btw, I already can do more than 2.03a. Look below. Is that her ? I guess so.

Hi Tore,

It is worse ...
I don't know how, but I don't find any albums of Duke Elliot via XXHighEnd.
Also, in the Tidal player I find two albums of him (Provisions and Death of a Widow) and not yours.

I know (or can expect) it can be country related, but I can tweak that and it doesn't help.

So I am puzzled ...

If you have more examples, please don't hesitate to bring them forward. Maybe I can start to see a line.

Oh, you can do this for me :
If you rightclick on the Album (in the Library Area) and choose Location ... - Explore Original Location, you end up in the \Streams folder if you prepared it already, or otherwise in its main folder (name of the Album). Anyway go to that main folder and find the file TidalDummy.wav.mtt. In there is a number and I like to know it.

Something seems very strange here ...

Peter

Peter, you need glasses

Luke Elliot, not Duke

Ohh f*ck.
Well, I did it right in the Tidal player and in XXHE I applied a typo (and the text lasted for the almost an hour I was looking for the problem). Grrr.

See below.
First screenshot is from when you're in Norway.
Second one is from when you're in Holland. That is what I see in the Tidal Player as well (can't tweak that or at least not easily). In the Tidal player I see the first two albums you see in the first screenshot.

All of them is again what I call "fakes". So the bottom two are denoted as Singles and the other two are EP's or whatever, but with 5 tracks only and including those singles again.
So now you experience what I am saying all the time. 25 million tracks perhaps, but 24.5 million are the same.

The album you seek is not there, but I may wonder whether it exists on CD. It's on LP that I can see, but ...

The album i seek is on Tidal here in norway.
It is the only album with him, all the rest is playlists, singles, EP

Tore, OK.
Is it possible to give me a screenshot of how it looks like in the Tidal player ? Including Titel and all ?

Say that this is about providing more than we are allowed to see (like you see different stuff than me in XXHighEnd). A bit of tweaking. But I must have examples, and you have one there that I can't see anywhere. But it *is* there, obviously.

Regards and thanks,
Peter

PS: I am going to make different border colours for the Singles etc. garbage.

OK, here is what I see in Tidal and xx 2.03

Tore, two questions :

1. Can you play that in "HiFi" quality on Tidal ? (look at the "HIFI" characters to the left of the loudspeaker at the bottom-right - when lit it is CD quality, when dimmed MP3). Test it with others too when yuo see it dimmed, because it is also a setting in the player.

2. Can you find a CD of it anywhere ? I can't (LP's yes). But (somehow) I run into many Norwegian pages and they are a bit hard to read.

I now just wonder what this is and I am trying to learn (for the furture and possibilities).

Thank you ...
Peter

Hi Peter,

Here is another one.  I am after the "Spirit of Eden" album and can play it in the Tidal player at HiFi quality, but it does not show up in the XXHE search.

Thank you Anthony.

Here's my list and you can see that we both don't get 'm all.

On with the tweaking ...

I really like the idea of Tidal integration in XXHE and the way that you have gone about it, so thanks from me.

Anthony,

:)

Small remark : maybe next time don't make the screens where you make the screenshot from, so wide. Comparing can make one dizzy.

Anyway, the Tidal Player in this case seems to offer the same for our both cases, but what their database officially offers, is not.

Btw ... ... what I showed in my previous post was for the USA (remainder from yesterday's testing). Below is The Netherlands (one added, haha) :

Thanks,
Peter

Yeah, sorry about the large screens.  My monitors are quite large but I will trim the images down in future.

Showing off with your monitors eh ?
haha

But mine aren't and that brings the problem.
Also FYI : when you post two pics in one post like you did and one of them is more wide than the other, then the scrollbar which is there (on my poor 1680 wide screen), required to scroll into view a right part of the parge picture, will scroll *out* of view the other picture.

Go-to-the-doctorrr ...
:)

I must apologise again, because with my previous "Dutch" attempt, I forgot to first delete the old result. Here's the votes from The Netherlands now, with the notice that it's back to 6, but one of them was exchanged (so compared to the first USA pic, one went out and another came in instead).

But maybe I'm :wacko" of it.

Tonight I have played with the Tidal player for the iPad and set it up with the Denon AVR in the lounge room.  There I noticed that the particular Talk Talk album in question is a 1997 remaster, so on the long shot that this is pertinent to this conversation I thought I would mention it.

Anthony, can you rephrase somewhat please ?
What is the album in question ?
How can you tell (at the Denon) that it is a Remaster, without seeing/knowing that "elsewhere" (?) ?

Thank you,
Peter

... or you remove the bugs from your program ...

This is now what's brought forward of Talk Talk. If all is right for Australia the same.
After an XXHighEnd upgrade of course. :sorry:

For Luke Elliot things also changed;
First is for the Norway.
Second is for Netherlands.

If you looke close, you see that the all of the borders are black; they're all Singles or EP's.
All ? No, one is normal in the first (Norway) one. Its name : "Dressed for the occasion".
Nice, because now the Cover is wrong for the (small) size in order. I can't help that.
So the 3rd screenshot shows the (Norway) larger Cover, which emerged from obtaing the Track data.

(I spent the whole day on rewriting the main code regarding this)

Talk Talk "Spirit of Eden" is the album in question.  When streaming to the Denon or AppleTV from the Tidal app on the iPad that album comes up as a 1997 Remaster.  As far as I can see in the Tidal app itself there is no mention of remastering when you look at the album alone, but look at the track listing and it has "(1997 Remastered Version)" not once but twice...."Eden (1997 Remastered Version)(1997 Remastered Version)"

I also found a Sting album from my youth that I wanted to listen to again that shows up in Tidal but not XXHE.  "Nothing Like the Sun" is the album...can you see that now with your updated XXHE Tidal search?

Peter,

æ, ø and å in track-titles is replaced by strange letters (difficult to read)

Tore, I know.

Please try to keep the topics clean. There is already a topic highly reated to this (yours) and otherwise make a new one.

Thank you !

Hi,

What this topic started out with, is now also solved (for the next version); searching with these characters is now OK.
