Title: Tidal prepare stream issue
Post by: Arjan on December 07, 2015, 10:25:34 pm
Hi Peter,

Justin Bieder (yes, I know) album Purpose gives an autorisation error from server on track 11.

But I also notice a weird sign in the name:
11 - Where Are Ü Now.flac

Maybe that is the issue? And not autorisation?

Do you want us to send you these kind of issues?
regards, Arjan

Hi Arjan,

Together with Tore's remark (thank you Tore !) ... interesting ...

I see the Authorisation errors (401) too and like Tore says, re-attempt and most of the time it will be fine.
BUT
What I seem to see is that the faster your Internet speed is, the more easy such an error occurs. Here, I already sort of automated the re-attempt, but have not sufficient experience to see whether it really helps. Also, I never know when it will happen.
AND
What could be new is that this is related to the weird characters. I'd swear that when this happens to me, I indeed see these strange characters but I never noticed it as a pattern. Of course I will watch for that now.
N.b.: The characters issue itself I did not work on yet.

Quote
(yes, I know)

You ask me to test this ? and what shall I tell the family ? That I test this for Arjan ?
hahaha
Ok, I will test it without sound and the monitor off. :)

Peter

Thank you Tore.

I just looked into the Album of which I had it two days ago for each of the 4 tracks, but there are no strange characters in that one at all.

Maybe we must also pay attention to the Track Names when it happens at the very time. I mean, I was fairly sure that this Album of two days ago showed strange characters, while now I don't see them at all. Of course I can be wrong, but I also think that things can change, like errors during the download of the "meta data". Not sure about that though.
Anyway, I think that when the error happens the track name is showed as well. So, let's pay attention to what we see in that message. And a next thing could be to look at the final result and whether then no strange characters are there.

Maybe I am making this all up ... :(

No, this one for real does not work. Also see below - in the Tidal player I can't play it as well (it is greyed out).
Btw, I just checked the program (and log files) and now see that I can avoid the Unauthorized message. Actually it was denoted in the program as "to do".

In the picture you can also see that the character is a capital ü. I checked the album itself, and that seems to be correct.

Case closed, I'd say but I must amend XXHighEnd a bit ...
(and you don't want to know how many dozens of "Tidal issues" I have solved by now )

Hi Peter,
That was an easy check, could have done it myself.... (and will next time)
Thanks, I really like the already the current Tidal possibilities. So it can only get better.

Arjan, yes, once you know such a thing can be checked like that, then it is easy. But I didn't know either.
Apparently that can happen within an Album.

A bit of a stupid thing of course because what must I do ?
Just don't obtain the Track in the Playlist Area is easy but people may wonder "where is Track #11 ??". Obtain it but sort of grey it out is better, but not easy at all because obviously XXHighEnd doesn't know about such things and adaption to it can be hidden deep in many functions.

Thanks ...
Peter

Hi,

For the next version :

I decided to just leave out the track. But in such a case the Logging will contain an entry looking like you see below. This logging will be done regardless whether Logging is set Active or not.
N.b.: The "??" you see in the log entry is coincidental and about the "strange characters" (yet to solve).

All,

I don't think there was a separate topic for the strange characters showing, but we talked about that in this topic. So in here I'll announce that to be solved in the next version.

I have been in contact with Tidal: when a album-track is grey and can`t be played (streamed) it is because Tidal don`t have the rights for that track.
Can be because of a feat artist in that track

Maybe people don't know (OK, I am sure they don't) but Tore is the reason that Tidal can be used from within XXHighEnd in the first place;
when I had to give up (say because of communication problems), Tore poked the fire on both sides.
:thankyou:

I may wonder ... Tore, how is it that you contact Tidal so easily ?

Great stuff and sounds completely logical to me.
Thank you !
