Title: Which will be the OS to boot, after playing from RAM ?
Post by: Scroobius on January 22, 2016, 10:40:45 am
Hi Peter - a question and apologies if this is off topic but if the XXHE PC is powered down whilst an OS is loaded in RAM what will happen on restart assuming the RAM-OS disc is installed. Will it just load the previously loaded OS back into RAM or will an OS have to be selected from a BIOS screen?

Paul

Hi Paul,

Good question !

Assumed that you always use XXHighEnd to denote the OS to boot from (and this is crucial) - it will always boot back in the OS you used lastly.

Side note :
The one you see in XXHighEnd's Boot Menu in the column "Default", normally is the OS used to boot from the next time. However, once you start "intervening" in the Windows Boot Menu, this becomes unreliable hence can not be trusted;
I spent more than a day making this reliable while waiting for the HDD's to arrive, but in the end concluded that I could not do it and was more destructive than doing good. So now it shows what you set lastly in XXHighEnd and not what practice is, may you have intervened yourself.

If not clear, please ask further.

Peter
