Title: XXHE: 2.05 Xtweaks
Post by: AlainGr on March 28, 2016, 02:39:18 pm
Hi Peter,

This question probably has already been asked somewhere, sometime...

It happens that Xtweaks have a different value between parenthesis than the one that we entered in a previous session. Ex: Nervous Rate indicates "(60)" while I have selected "1" before.

Do I need then to press the "Apply" button to really put the Nervous Rate to 1 ?

Thanks,

Alain

Hi Alain,

Assumed that I understand your question correctly ...

Ehm, "obviously" the Apply is in order because you see it happening ? (the number between () gets actualized)

But I merely have the feeling that you want to ask whether the by you changed number is preserved when booted from RAM and the PC shuts down outside of the official (XXHighEnd Shutdown) procedure  for that.
;) ;)

Peter

Peter,

Of course I understand the need to Apply each time I change some Xtweaks and then I right-click on STOP to attach the os-ram drive and save the settings, then reboot (that saves the settings again, so I think that my first "Save Settings" is overkill).

I did the test before writing, to not ask something obvious :)

Still, the value is kept as per my example (nervous rate will show "(60)" at next reboot, but the value will be "1" in the box where we can type the value we want...

So my question about pressing each time "Apply", even if I haven't done any change since last reboot...

I have done another test since: I brought back the Win 10 build 10586.0 BASE disk and done the Apply to see if next time it will show my last change... It does save the nervous rate this time (I did it in Minimized OS).

So my understanding is that some settings are saved in RAM OS, but not all ;) And of course, I am not talking about changing the buffer (like 8 to 4ms in the XXHE control panel, from the driver - that needs to be done with the BASE disk).

I'm fine with this, as long as I know :)

Regards,

Alain

Ok ...

Are you sure that any of the other settings are saved then ? I don't think so. That is, if it is your suggestion that this setting is not saved to permanent storage then I claim that none do.

Please notice that this is a bit tricky for me, as I can't check your situation any more and it is outragiously complicated in the code which I changed for about 10 times by now after all was finished for your guys' disks and while each time I thought all was fine. But, if it is up to me then this was not about saving normal settings, but about all of the other stuff around that. Think your current Playlist Area contents, your Favourites, your Galleries. After this 10 times I think I have it all working now ... :)

Check the content of your Copy Settings To field (top section in Settings). It should denote the XX location on drive X:.

Peter,

You bet I can imagine how much code is behind XXHE... Surely more complicated than typing a line code to display "Hello World" ;)

All is fine as I learn how to do things. Aren't we supposed to be one of the best adaptable being in existence... :)

Kind regards,

Alain
