Title: XX HighEnd-206 doesn't start because of Active X message
Post by: Stanray on June 18, 2016, 11:34:10 am
Hi Peter,

I downloaded the upgrade patch, unzipped it over the existing XXHighEnd 204c version. All seemed to go well, but when I started XXHighEnd (Minimized, Unattended), just before I expected to see the coverart and hear music, it stops and shows the attached message:

Stanley

Stanley,

I have have seen this myself but when I sat down for it to solve it, I never could copy the problem.
In this sequence :

1. Does a reboot help ?
2. If not, a higher SFS should help. Not that I want you to use a higher SFS, but I wonder whether it helps you.

Lastly, especially when you can not solve it by means of a reboot, can you post the XX (only that one) log file of such an attempt ?

Regards,
Peter

1. I rebooted several times, but no change.
2. Higher SFS (up to 120) doesn't help.

Attached is the XX logfile.

Stanley

Hi Stanley,

Can it be so that this log file is not the one from the Playback attempt ? I am not sure, but I expect a number of tracks to be processed. So I think you must grab the log file preceding this one (one older).

Peter

Sorry, my mistake.

Attached is a retry, hopefully better.

Morning Peter,

XXHighEnd 206 works perfectly now.

This morning I also rebooted the MusicServer PS and started XX Attended. That worked.
Next I tried Unattended and that also works fine.
I have no clue what caused the problem. Could it have something to to with the getting the files from the server?

Anyway, thank you.

Regards,
Stanley

Hi there Stanley,

First an apology that I never saw your new post (forum, quirck) with new log file (I will look into it anyway).
But as I now see you managed ...

Point is that I had this myself 2 times (last time only 4 days ago and it postponed this upgrade because I wanted to find the cause) and at each each a reboot helped (the first time is weeks ago and I don't recall the situation but back then I thought "oh well").
I just don't know what it is. But stupid thing : this will be a normal message which in itself fails because of something not available anymore (it is during or after the shutdown of services). So my main aim is that this message normally shows and tells what is going on (perhaps a "File can not be accessed because it is in use by another process"). But I first must be able to copy the behavior again ...

Good for you that it works again !
Peter

Stanley, maybe you can tell me ...

This message (see your screenshot) occurs when this other messages "Wait for Services to stop" is on screen.
What was your sequence in obtaining the log file ?

a. Bring up XXHighEnd, press stop in there and grab the log files(s);
b. Click away the error message, next the same as a.;
c. Click away the error message, click away the Wait for Services message, next the same as a.

Another sequence is possible too, but you get the idea of what I want to know; your log file (the larger one) ends somewhere, but now I need to know where XXHighEnd really was (stuck) and this depends on what you did ...

Thanks !
Peter

Hi Peter,

As far as I can remember I clicked away the error message (I did not click away the Wait for Services message), pressed Ctrl-Alt-X button on the Onscreen Keyboard and waited for XX HighEnd to appear. Then I grabbed the logfile.

I tried to reproduce the error message by changing various settings in "Services", but XXHighEnd doesn't show errors anymore.

On thing I might, I updated XXHighEnd by means of the patch while the MusicServer PC was ON. After rebooting the Music Server PC, XXHighEnd didn't show the error and works perfectly (Maybe this has nothing to do with the problem, but I add it for completeness).

I hope this helps, otherwise, please let me know.

Regards,
Stanley

Hi Peter,

By chance, I reproduced the error message again and thus also could avoid it again.

As you suggested it has to do with SFS settings. With my setting SFS=1; max SFS=60 there's no problem, but the error message shows when "Max the same as SFS" is active.

Hope this helps.

Stanley

Thank you Stanley.

Assumed that this time you did not need to reboot your server, I'd say this is another problem (but the same one I encountered). If only I myself could let it happen again ...

Best regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

The error message showed up again after I started both the AudioPC and MusicServerPC (which I switch off when away from home for a few days).

Playing a track Attended for a few seconds, press stop and Play Unattended, will make the message go away.

Regards,
Stanley

I had the same problem here but so far it's solved changing SFS Mx to 60 (initially it was 20). No matter the SFS value, I was using 0.7 but now I find better SQ at 4.00. The value that produces the problem is a low Max value. At least that's what I've found.

Hi Juan,

Thus only when the Max is low you have the problem, and when setting only that to higher the problem goes away right away ?
D*mn I wish I could mimic at least one of the situations so I can solve the Message to show what it wants (so if not clear yet : the error message itself fails at this moment and always shows that ActiveX thing).

YES !

It is that Max setting !!
So with the first hint of Stanley and now the totally clear post from Juan, I got it !!

So now I can solve the Messages failing in general.

Thank you guys - Super !
Peter

That's not totally correct Peter. I've discovered that  if I set the Max to 20, 30, 40, 50, 70 and 80 the message appears and when I set it to 60 all is ok. So, here it only works correctly when Max is set to 60.
There's no other error messages than the ones shown by Stanley in the first post.

Juan

The 2.06 Download (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3644.0) now contains an UpgradePatch 2.06a which solves this issue.

Again, great thanks.

Peter , I used the upgrade patch on 2.05 to ugrade to 2.06, isn't it possible to get just the new patch or do I have to install the new 2.06 version?

Thanks,
Juan

Juan,

Just look at the name of it. This should be clear.
Is it not ?
(I do not explain on purpose at this moment, because I like to have it automatically clear)

Just ask again if it is not clear, or try to explain what is not clear. Ok ?

Peter

That's totally clear now, I haven't read the name in the download area, I was a bit lazy this morning, too hot here in southern Spain besides not very motivated with the Eurocup. At least I have some part of the family living in Italy and they seem to be happier  :dont:

Thanks
