Title: I'm finding Tidal searches in XX so frustrating!
Post by: manisandher on September 01, 2016, 05:32:10 pm
The only way I can find what I want is to do the search in Tidal first and then to use the artist name exactly as it appears in Tidal in the XX search box. For example, if you put 'Beatles' in the XX search box, it will come back with nothing. I mean, nothing. Very frustrating.

I'm currently looking for 'Los Pajaros Perdidos' by Christina Pluhar/Philippe Jaroussky/L'Arpeggiata in XX. No matter what permutation of the title and/or artist I use, XX will not come up with it. Tidal finds it immediately using just Christina Pluhar.

HELP!!!

Mani.

Mani,

Add an asterisk to whatever you want "not exactly". That would be at almost everyting if you don't know in advance how Tidal liked to spell it.
Btw, luckily they *are* consistent with it. So once an Artist Name is writting not according to your spec, it will remain like that throughout all the albums.

Album Title is not much related to consistency but very much related to other sh*t put in there (and you really can not guess that). So the asterisk can be in there by standard (almost).

:sorry:

I now see that I never made ToolTips on the Search Fields in the Search Form. The asterisk (*) was written about in the Release Notes to 2.04, but ... (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3436.msg36925#msg36925)

Peter,

is it posible to get XX to search up a playlist?

It is a lot of nice playlist in Tidal, created by audiophile`s

Hi Tore,

Yes, I surely have been thinking about such things and more (next version will be a lot about Tidal).
The problem I currently have is the "API guide" has been removed by Tidal and I thus can't even look for the commands to obtain playlists (and if it is possible in the first place). I already asked them, but did not receive a response for over a week by now ...

Thank you,
Peter

Hi Peter!

Is it anything new about searching for Tidal playlists?

Hi Tore,

As you may have read elsewhere, the API is back again, though in different format. So yes, I now know how to deal with Playlists and I already had a beginning with it. But not in 2.07 yet ...

Best regards,
Peter

How do you guys actually envision searching Tidal's playlists ?
I didn't really work it out yet, but I feel they can't be searched really. You can get them all right, but not search them because they are unknown to you. I mean, we can search for "Rhoda Scott", but we can search for "PeterSt's great Hammonds", because you don't know I made that.

Am I wrong ?

Additionally notice that the way Tidal works inherently, in my view s*cks to some extent. I mean, try to get all the playlists (really all) and tell me how you did that. But better start out more simple, and obtain all the Jazz. Well, apart from relatively hardly any album received a Genre annotation (I can see that), the list presented will never be complete. I think something tries that (by the known method of scrolling down and obtain a bunch more when arrived at the bottom), but as far as I can see that does not really work (out).
Why to tell this ?
well, because I have a similar problem; I can't obtain say 100,000 Jazz albums and present them to you; it is too much and you wouldn't be able to do something with it really.

Understand the Playlist problem now ?
I could only obtain all of them (how many are there ?) which a. will be too much to wait for (may take 20 minutes)
b. does not allow further selections when there will be 100000 indeed while you don't even know what you can search for.

The database (as in IT termonology) as how it has been setup in Tidal is really poor ...

Playlists is a great way to find new music/artist/album if they are made by
Audiophiles like us

Hi Tore,

I have this almost working now, and even before I can use it myself I am getting more and more enthusiastic about this.

Thanks !

HELP!!!

I'm trying to find versions of Beethoven's piano concerto No. 3 on Tidal. Clicking on XX's Srch Tidal button, in the Artist field, I'm inputting 'Beethoven' and in the 'Album Name / General' field, I'm inputting 'Piano Concerto No.3 in C Minor, Op. 37'. But what comes back are loads of No. 5 piano concertos!

Roon identifies the correct piano concertos no problem.

Please help!

Mani.

OK ...
In 2.08 you can a kind of copy paste from what you found in Tidal. But you don't have that.

If you show me the picture, I can try from here and tell you how to search for it.

For some reason, that seems to lock up (the Windows blue 'thinking circle' just goes around indefinitely).

But, putting it in the Artist field works!

Thanks.

Huh ?
Very strange. But maybe that's because I have another XXHighEnd version.  :)
But looks strange to me anyway.
