Title: 2.08 Request for Mod
Post by: Scroobius on July 22, 2017, 04:38:14 pm
Hi Peter,

Would it be possible to make a small change in 2.08?

When I start up XX there is an "X" button covering the bottom of the slider as shown next to the arrow in attached photo 1. If I click on the album art divider partition the X button goes back to its normal position as indicated by the arrow in photo 2.

I often run my system from my phone and every time I have to click on that partition to get rid of the X button so I can get to the bottom of the slider. That is somewhat of a pain as whilst it is otherwise easy enough to operate from the phone clicking on the partition isn't.

Would it be possible for the X to be anywhere else that it is when XX is first started?  or even better for it not to start in that position at all?

Cheers Paul

Hi Paul,

This is not intentional of course. But I see a few more things wrong, and I don't know whether they can be solved from the distance. But first a question :

I see scrollbars; are they intentionally ? I ask because according to me they should never be there.
So this is just the question wheter you do this on purpose or whether you didn't know how to get rid of them in the first place (and now possibly don't mind).

Regards,
Peter

To be honest I have never even thought about it. Because the file tree in the left window is longer than the window the scrollbar automatically appears so that I can scroll down to the bottom. How would I scroll down to the bottom of the file tree without a scroll bar? or maybe I can scale down the size of the window never even thought about but I will have a play.

Cheers

Paul

OK Paul. And mind you, I am not claiming that the following will work out for the better for you - you'd have to find out your self.

Your phone will connect to "a" PC which connects through to the Audio PC, right ?
OK. So let's say that the Audio PC does not care about any resolution; There is no monitor attached to it anyway.
The PC (laptop ?) you connect to, is to use the resolution you want on the "end point" (which is your phone).
Btw, I think you can run into trouble when your phone has a higher resolution than that PC/Laptop - not sure though.
Now, suppose the phone has (or can be set to) a resolution of 1366x768 (just making up something). Then on the laptop you must make an RDC connection of exactly (!!) that size. You do this by rightclick on the RDC icon you'll have for that, open with Notepad (this is 100% crucial) and in that file set the resolution to that by means of these lines (you will find them close to the top but with different values) :
desktopwidth:i:1366
desktopheight:i:768

Also add this line :
smart sizing:i:1

I think this is sufficient to let all work without scrollbars AND the always correct aspect ratio (!). And yes, it is almost voodoo how it canwork, but it does.

At this time I am unsure (I forgot) to what degree the settings on the end point (your phone) are related, which already springs from that not being under my control as long as it is not Windows. However, to be sure of the result, when possible also enter that resolution in the Phone's "RDC" icon. But I said it, if possible. Maybe this is always possible, because whatever the resolution of the phone, it will be a standard (like "full screen" implies it already).

Attached you'll find my own file for the "laptop" (which is the intermediate) and which is made to fit my tablet. I give it because some more will be in there like the automatically disappearing connection bar (maybenot possible outside of the Windows OS) or that there is no Title Bar or anything else that eats space.

Your goal is to have a completely full screen experience on the remote, with the proper aspect ratio.

For others : and of course you scale XXHighEnd to your (finger's) needs.

Paul, unrelated to whether you succeeded with your scrollbars endeavour, I just saw the problem coincidentally myself. It must be like that for ages but apparently I never was bothered by it.
Will be solved !

Peter

Peter, has v2.08 already been released, or is it just that Paul is testing it?

Hi Peter - I am using two RDC icons now one for my laptop and one for my phone as they have difference resolutions. This actually seems to resolve a problem I had with my phone (its res was higher than intermediate PC's) in that if I zoomed in on any part of XX and forgot to shrink it back to normal size before logging out then there was a good chance that I would not be able to reconnect using RDC and XXHE would need a reboot. So it is useful and solves one problem but it does not solve the scrolling problem which I think you now realise as your subsequent post points out:

It is not a problem for me being presented with a scroll bar when my music directory gets bigger than its window (which mine will in Galleries) its just that X at the bottom covering the down arrow that is the problem.

But I think you now can see that !!!

Cheers

Paul
