Title: 2.08 Error
Post by: dsm on September 25, 2017, 12:28:31 am
Hi Peter,

I just installed 2.08 over 2.07 and now when I try to play a file three errors pop up.

The first- Caller :J could not find the file.
Second- System IO. File not Found ( From ...unicode track0001.wav.)
Third- Not enough space on playback drive.

I've been using the RAM disk for the playback drive.

I've never had these trouble before with the "overwriting" update and it is strange they suddenly came about.

Best,

David

I have the same errors. Clicking away errors, it plays music. But errors come up everytime a music file/album is loaded. The music files have all permissions.

XXhighend 2.08 certainly more stable after Ram boot. But needs two boots from first start to get all working.

Sound is improved more than slightly!!!

Robert

Interesting ...

David will be sleeping by now, and Robert should be alive and kicking. So for now :

Robert, can you switch on Logging, restart XXHighEnd, let the thing happen and with the first (!) error still on screen, grab the newest XX- logfile and attach it to a post in here (don't send it by email).

Don't forget to switch off logging afterwards.

Is this happening Attendedly just the same ?
If not, does it also happen with one track in the Playlist Area and Unattended ? If yes, please give me the log file of *that* situation (one track) as this is far more easy to analyse.

Thanks,
Peter

Yes it is happening at attended the same. I've sent 3 files with one track engaged at attended.

No 2 the one you want. The message also comes up when deleting Xxhighend from screen.

I don't think so, but possibly I see something strange there. So please confirm ...

No MQA, no Tidal in fact no remote. Just 16/44 flac music files from my server.

Robert, may I ask ... What is that first error message which appears in your situation ?

After 2.08 is loaded fresh into ram the first message is:

The first- Caller :J could not find the file.
Second- System IO. File not Found ( From ...unicode track0001.wav.)
Third- Not enough space on playback drive.

After this when playing more tracks only the Unicode track0001.wav message comes up and when shutting down xxhighend.

Robert, can it be that you took the log file on another moment than with that "Caller" message on the screen ?
I mean, the logging of such a happening exists, but it is not in the log file (the XX- one).

Hello Peter,

After I received the errors last night and was unable to have music play, I installed the 2.07 patch over the 2.08 and everything went back to working.

Possibly in a couple of hours I can try the 2.08 patch again and send you the log file.  Can this patch be applied while minimized or should it be in the regular OS?

BTW, I am using build 10586.

Thanks,

David

One more thing. I use a regular desktop for searching and downloading from Tidal so the user controls are still Windows 10 defalts. This computer is used for other Windows programs as well.

I just tried to play music from this PC and had a couple of "Registry Control Tool " windows pop up. I selected "no" to not allow and then received the same three errors mentioned above.

I was unsure if I could accept the "Registry Control Tool" and still have my computer work as before.

Hi David - That would be super (since Robert is sleeping now). And yes, can be done in Minimized OS.

You mean with the 2.07 patch ??
Anyway, it would be true that XXHighEnd writes to the Registry here and there and everywhere, but would that be the cause you think ?
(and hard to imagine that Robert has the very same issue)
But maybe I'm confused now ?

Thanks a lot,
Peter

 Hi Peter,

Let me know if the attached file works for you. The log is from my musicPC.

The "Registry Control Tool"  pops up when using 2.08 on my desktop computer.
When using  2.07, this "tool" never popped up before trying to play music on this pc. I only play music every once in a while because once I lost the XXHighend licence and you thought maybe it was because music had not been played for a long time.

It won't really effect me, I just thought you should know.

Best,

David

OK David, thank you.
But now I still don't know whether you receive the exact same messages when you reject the question of the popup. IOW, is that the cause ?

Can you quickly try the version below ?
Just paste over your XX folder.

Edit : Removed the download after David tested it, to avoid confusion for others.

Ha! you're a genius Peter. Tried both attended and unattended and it seems to be working fine.

As far as the user control "let this app make changes to your computer" on the desktop- I don't mind accepting but because this message never appeared with 2.07, I am  hesitant.

Best,

David

Thank you David ! For the fast response too.

(http://As far as the user control "let this app make changes to your computer" on the desktop- I don't mind accepting but because this message never appeared with 2.07, I am  hesitant.)

You don't need to worry. But point could be : wouldn't it be necessary to always and ever respond to that message ?
Otherwise I am interested in the Registry Key(s) involved. If possible and not too much trouble you can please send this data to me by email (screenshot perhaps ?).

Thank you very much for your help.
Peter
