Title: Installing XXHighend in WS2016 with GUI
Post by: joelha on October 02, 2017, 02:57:38 pm
Hi Peter,

Well, as a user of Nontallion (formerly Infinity Blade, formerly Bughead Emperor), I'm anxious to try your player.

I'm running WS2016 GUI, but after extracting version 2.08 and clicking on the XXHighend program, besides the nirsoft application opening, nothing happens.

I also run Fidelizer. Should I uninstall Fidelizer and Nontallion? Is there something else I should do? I've closed these programs in Task Manager but still no luck.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Joel

Hi there Joel,

First of all it is quite crucial that you use 2.08d (or beyond when there) because the ZIP packing of the previous 2.08 versions cause something very similar to what you describe (2.08d is RAR).

Also see this topic : 2.08d on WS2016 first impressions (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3899.0) IOW you should be able to get further than right now. So if all else seems right to you, I’d indeed deactivate Fidelizer for now/test.

Kind regards,
Peter

Thanks a lot, Peter.

Well, the new version certainly helped.

However, I can't get my dac to work. I've tried both 24 and 32 bit options.

I'm using Dante Virtual sound card set to wdm (vs. ASIO, which I know doesn't work with XXHighend). And that virtual card does appear as an output device. I use this soundcard to work with a Rednet D16 which is used as a digital interface between my server and dac.

But I get failure messages or messages to switch between 24 and 32 bits.

What should I try next?

Thanks for all your help.

Joel

Hi Joel,

Possibly your sound card does not like the 44.1 base clock. To be sure about that, what happens with a 24/96 (or 24/192) file ?

Regards,
Peter

Thanks for your reply, Peter.

24-96 didn't work either.

I had the same issues.

Any other thoughts?

Joel

Joel, you can get the same message when Q1 x !qFactor is too much off. Default is 14x1, and more "extreme" for random situations is 7x1 or 21x1. Of course you can also set 30x20 or so, but this won't be a necessity in any case I know of.

Otherwise it is always waiting for whether the DAC accepts 24 bits or 32 bits (or both).
If you really can't find a working setting, it seems best that I look via TeamViewer. More options exist but it may take you too much time. Anyway the situation should be a more rare one ...

Thanks again, Peter, for your prompt replies.

I'm out of town now and won't be back until after the weekend. I'll give this another shot when I return and then will report back.
