Title: Tidal - Unable to connect to the remote server
Post by: coliny on October 05, 2017, 06:12:02 pm
JUst trying to get into tidal

First time Tidal login info was accepted by XXHE.

but when I search from within XXHE I get message "Unable to connect to the remote server".

Checked with Tidal app and I can login ok with it.

Changed Tidal password but XXHE did not ask for the new password. Gone back to original password for now.

Hi Colin,

In your XX folder there's a TidalSesssion.dat file. If you delete that, the popup for the credentials will show again.

Otherwise if you (want to) send me your Tidal email addres and password (by email !), I can try from here. I know of one other situation and in that case it works over here. And if I send you mentioned .dat file created here, it will work on your side too.
I have no idea what can be wrong in such a situation.

Best regards,
Peter

That error occurs when Artist is left blank.

Tried search for Artist - Madness (other fields blank)

No results were returned (no messages either)

Hi Colin,

This is difficult for troubleshooting because our result sets will be different (for Holland different from the UK). Anyway :

When I leave blank the Artist I just get a result (for all I look for but for safety I just tried Paranoid) and when I look for Artist Madness I receive a screen full.

What Album (in the "general" field) do you search for ?

Peter

Btw, a nice pitfall will be that you have MQA Only ticked, and the Artist does not have any MQA. With Madness this is the case ... (at least over here).

... For the life of my I can't imply that error message, so I really like to have all the data to copy this issue ...

If I search Artist = madness , Album = blank , I get no results.
If I search Artist = madness , Album = complete madness , I get no results.
If I search Artist = blank , Album = complete madness , I get "unable to connect........"

In the Tidal App I can search for "madness" and get all their albums.

Colin, you mean the one you see below, right ?

Do you have the same {...} number in your Tidal player ?
See the Share link.

> If I search Artist = madness , Album = blank , I get no results.

Many results here.

If I search Artist = madness , Album = complete madness , I get no results.

I get the album.

If I search Artist = blank , Album = complete madness , I get "unable to connect........"

I again get the album.

What happens when you paste this in the Album/General field ?
https://tidal.com/album/70742844
(that too works here)

So basically the same problem.

You could try to switch on logging, let the message about the Connection appear, let that be and grab the newest XX- log file and post it.
I'm afraid though that the relevant logging is just not active in the production version.

I feel that you have some general odd problem in your HTTP traffic (for the part XXHighEnd uses) or it is the problem I mentioned first, after all. I never tried it, but I could try to use your TidalSession.dat file to see the problem is in there (you now don't need to send email + password but only the .dat file, by email).

Did you (ever back) use the activation procedure on this Windows 10 machine ? I ask, because that would imply the same HTTP kind of traffic (protocol).

Another idea could be that you use MinOS on this PC and this is not really the idea of it. I mean, this was never tested and requires services could be off. So are you ?
Is the UAC On or Off ? (see rightclick on Stop). It should be On.
