Title: MQA Search Fail
Post by: acg on April 19, 2018, 01:38:05 am
Hi Peter,

I thought I would try some MQA from Tidal (finally).  The MusicServer is running 14393 and XXHE 2.10.  Lets say I do a search for Norah Jones and tick the "All" radio button.  All the non-MQA albums appear in the list just fine, but all of the MQA albums trigger a dialogue box "The remote server returned an error:(401) Unauthorized." I click "Continue" and a second error box comes up for that album "Error GetTidalArtist for:123123" (whatever the number for that artist is).

I thought this may be related to me being able to log into Tidal myself from XXHE, and you having to prepare the file for XXHE with my username and password.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

Very interesting ...
I must really give this a thought, also how to test for this situation. Maybe the situation can be copied by means of logging in as you from here. So I guess I will try that with the data I sent you - what was it ? 4 months ago or so.

But if this implies a differentiation between non-MQA and MQA, then it intrigues me what this can be ...

Regards,
Peter

And Anthony, assuming I wil lnot be able to copy this behavior, what must I exactly do ?
You seem to say that searching for the Artist suffices (no album name) but then what ? then the errors already show up when the albums are "enumerated" for showing up in the Library Area ? is that what you say ?
So I need to know where/when exactly the errors show up.

Hi Peter,

The errors show up as the search is happening...so the search box is still on screen and it is filling the leftmost window of XXHE with the albums.  Interestingly, the albums still show up after all of the error messages, but when I try to prepare a stream I get an "Unauthorized" error for each track it tries to download.

I've not used Tidal and XXHE for quite a while, certainly not since 2.10 came out, so I just tried to prepare a stream for a non-MQA album and I received the same "Unauthorized" errors for each track of that album as I had for the MQA albums.  It looks to me like it is a similar login thing again...I will delete the Tidal?? file in the XXHE directory (cannot remember its name) and copy in again the one from last year.

Just tried this...did not change anything.  The file certainly lets me log into Tidal though.

Aha ... OK, so all explained.
N.b: I too had to re-loging last week (this is a kind of expected behavior as the Tidal sessions don't last forever (they don't know themselves how long they will last)).

No, that won't work. I must do it again for you, like the other times. Still no clue why, btw.

I just tried for you, but I think you changed your password. So I will be watching my email for it.
I am out for a while now first ...

Peter
