Title: Tidal & Amazon
Post by: Scroobius on September 17, 2019, 09:40:56 pm
Hi Peter,

I see that Amazon have just launched a lossless streaming service that substantially undercuts Tidal. Given that Tidal are losing money and are a minnow compared with Amazon the writing is on the wall - Tidal's days are numbered. I was wondering if you are aware of the situation (I am sure you are) and what the chances are of you getting an arrangement with Amazon similar to the one  you currently have with Tidal.

Cheers

Paul

Hi Paul,

I don't think there's anything like "arrangements" with Amazon.

There's also nothing like "infinite Hires" which is what this could be about and which would surpass Tidal if it (infinite Hires) would exist.

So at this moment I don't see a reason. Maybe I am wrong …

Regards,

Peter

Certainly no sign of any so called Hi Res audio files on Amazon Australia site. I joined but quickly cancelled out. Seems a number of issues to sort. Could be a while before things take shape. Certainly Amazon has the resources to do it properly. As a business model hi res is not profitable on its own.  Robert

Lucky we Phasure Playback System owners don't need anymore than Redbook resolution to have absolutely phenomenal SQ.   8)

I do have the Amazon and it is cd resolution but I do not stream except to my phone.
