Title: Where do I login for Tidal services through XXHighend?
Post by: BertD on November 07, 2019, 04:38:20 pm
On the Audio PC (connected to the DAC) there is no internet connection, at least Explorer doesn't work there. Not in normal mode, Minimized mode nor RAM.

On the MusicServer I do have internet and Tidal access and on my main PC as well.

I can't find any details about how to get Tidal working similar as my Music Server is providing the data?

Or do I have to insert a video card, connect a monitor and a keyboard to the audio PC to be able to make XX coöperate with Tidal work first?

Hey Bert,

Tidal is not supposed to work on the Audio PC itself.
Maybe if I myself would try a bit harder I could get it going, but for starters and not to forget : the Audio PC does not have an Internet connection. That is, it shouldn't have.
Thus :

Prepare (Tidal albums) on the Music Server PC, play at the Audio PC as usual.

Best regards,
Peter

Thanks...

So... if I want to play an album I do not have yet then I'll first need to go to the MusicServer and use Tidal there to fill the folder I have on the MusicServer with the downloaded albums and then switch back to the AudioPC, search through the Tidal folder and play from there?

The idea is to stream Tidal through your DAC (software).

I can't download files to my Tidal folder, how does this work?

I hoped to use XXHighend to pass the stream to your DAC without saving the data but apparently this does not work out like this?

Bert, then "the" idea is too much of your idea. It is not mine.
The remainder is correct.

That looks like an odd a. observation or b. a desire.
Which is it ?

Bert, if I may:

We usually use 2 PC's: One, called 'AudioPC' and second called 'MusicPC'. MusicPC is intended as storage of our music collection and as control unit for AudioPC, using remote desktop connection (RDC).

In order to listen Tidal streams, we use MusicPC with another instance of XXHE, installed & activated. MusicPC is connected to internet and operates in normal Windows, not minimized.
XXHE is started on MusicPC as well and there you enter Tidal credentials. Beside that, you need to assign (create) some new folder where streams will be (temporary) downloaded.
On AudioPC (accessed via RDC) it is needed to point (instruct) the other ('main') instance of XXHE to look for that specific folder, created on already shared disks(s) where your music collection resides.
You are not streaming directly to AudioPC but to MusicPC and from there collecting Tidal content.

Think you still need to re-read instructions (photo help) on Tidal streaming. It will ease choosing where each info goes.

Hope it is a bit clearer what should be done.

Brgds,
George
