Title: Progress on Engine #3
Post by: PeterSt on June 08, 2007, 09:55:14 am
Because I'm kind of euforic myself about it, I thought to let you know that yesterday at last I found the means to control the #3 Engine in a way that will lead to something definitely.

Since this is the only means for Vista bitperfect playback (and decent bitperfect playback in general), I am VERY glad that I could reach this stage.

I will try to get you a demo of this as soon as possible, but which will take another 2 weeks at least.

If there's anyone around who wants to be a trial on installation attempts under Vista (but with some knowledge of how to attack errors please), let him/her speak !
At an earlier attempt when I was there myself, we just couln't get it going ... So I guess it will be tough.

Thank you,
Peter

I would like to test it. I'll report back regarding installation and sound in Vista.

Now my Vista machine is in and running, I would be happy to give this a bash.

If there are bugs to be found, you can rely on me. ;)

Cheers Chris

Haha Chris, that's okay.

But please let's workout the major stuff first with Tor, Jack and Bert. This won't be a case of "me helping you", but merely "you help yourself, and with that me hence everyone".
I'll use you to finetune !! Haha. But if all is okay, you will get it right after the "tests" and my ability to write down what to do.

And while I'm writing in this thread anyway ...

Yesterday I achieved the most important "thing" for more or less convenient playback with #3. So for that matter it's ready to go. But :

What is left to do, is stripping the development environment as much as possible into a clean runtime environment, in order for "you" not needing stuff you wouldn't even be able to get. I'm not sure yet what it takes to do so, but I can imagine that it's done before the weekend, or otherwise in the next coming weekend.
