Title: Ludvig Berghe Trio
Post by: electrosound on June 08, 2007, 07:06:17 pm
Hi,

Ludvig Berghe Trio

This is a very nice recorded CD and nice jazz music (hard to find for me coming the two together)
With XX I hear now how good it is recorded
The guy's use 2 handmade Didrik de Geer microphones direct to two track digital master
and no funny sh*t involved (there words not mine) and you hear that that's for sure

I want to share a piece of a track (let's say the half of a track) , but how do I do that there is only 500KB to attach

Haha, that's a good one. Wasn't quite prepared yet. :heat:

But half of a track ... maybe then the rights people are at my doorstep too soon ...
I'd say 1/3 of a track max, and no more than 2 minutes (which would be some 20MB uncompressed, but I highered the limit to that a somewhat for conveniency).

Note that the up and down speed of this server is 1000kbs only (that's some 100 kilobyte per second :)).

Please keep in mind that this board is intended to be about "difficult" music, not turning out to be difficult with XX at all.
It's close, but just okay. It would be better if you'd add where things normally go wrong(ish), and not anymore now.

Also, in a later stage it would be about examples where a new XX version has improved ... or got worse for that matter. I'll listen, try, and try to improve again.
Under those conditions I think it is very legit to post samples.

Ok I see your point here, than it is more to follow from what is going on, if that is what you mean??

Hmm ... this doesn't seem to work. It looks like some 8MB is the maximum (the 19MB was my attempt). I guess it wasn't made for this ...
Must investigate this further ...

That is what I thought to, the uploading was stopped before the half, the track is 20Mb so it must be somewhere
near 8Mb
Ok I wait, or make it shorter......

Okay ... there was some internal limit of 2MB. If everything is allright you can do 25MB now (but you should do not more than some 20MB :)).

Uh-oh ...
Today I tested it with a high speed connection ... wrong.
Now it times out.

This just isn't made for this. Must find something else. :(

Hahaha you must be at high speed then yes, if I count the time that I was on

Well take your time, you don't have to rush for me  :) I'll see when it's ok

Hi Marco,

Could you please try it once more ?
Currently I can't because I'm too near to that server, and 20MB goes in 1 second ...

If you can do it before 5 hours from now (watch the posting time), we can adjust things before people go home here (and otherwise it will be tomorrow, which is okay with me).
Thank you !

Hi Peter,

20MB in one second, that is one deep breath

I tried it (and within time) and I was almost there, I think that it came near 90%
But if you want me to try again that's ok, and more than again is also fine with me

I get a message in my browser say the server is to busy or there are network problems (something like that I cant remember the precise words) and then there is the choice button to try again
I didn't press try again because I did that last week and I now that he starts all over again

It works with me (at a download speed of 3000kbs or so (and upload overthere is 1000)).

It took 5 minutes or so.

Yes !!!!!! (I think) :)

It fail once again, the compu had a hard time to upload (just like you run XP on a 200Mhz machine everything build up very slow) , I was thinking how that good be
then I shut down google desktop and my firewall ( I thing google desktop was the bottleneck because it check for new messages and stuff) and my compu act now normal wile the upload starts :good:
sorry peter for the inconvenience :blush2:, but I had no problems in the past with google or my firewall

I hope that the rip is good, because my primary CD-ROM is broke, I did it with the burner

Well ... what a coincidence ...
Yesterday evening I closed *my* GoogleDesktop because I estimated that it could lock files I couldn't read from the Vista machine (which is a big misery anyway), and today it is still closed *and* I could upload the testfile.
I will try it again with GoogleDesktop running ...

Another thing : during the download (so, your track08) all the time the server seems to hang. So, still things to do ...

Now I will listen to your track.  :)

Oh yes ... *very* natural sound of drums, "blowing" cymbals (don't know how to describe that, and I mean the one in the back), equally sounding piano, plunking cello (or what it is) and all.

A bit too short though ...  :blob8:

But : do you notice the "ticking" (metalish) on something at two stages during this piece of track ?
I say this, because I can imagine you can't. I'm listening to Engine#3/Double here ...  :teasing:

Lateron I will listen to it some more to find interesting parts to share.

Thank you.

Yes indeed a coincidence, it looks like that indeed Google Desktop is the trouble maker

Oh, I try to download it myself to test, and no problems with downloading here

Hahaha good to hear
yeah that drums come out good, it was the first thing I notice.
And indeed it sound very natural
Do you mean the "resonance" of the cymbal?? if so that one on the right side of the drum kit or the crash cymbal that you hear at the time of 49 sec ??

yeah it is not so long for you, but not for me  :P Hahaha, sorry.........
Well the CD is not so expensive 20$ (say 17 Euro) including transport (from Zweden to the Netherlands)
The payment goes by pay pal as far as I now, and you get a bag where the CD is wrap t in toilet paper

Hi,

I add this picture (scanned from the inlay) to let see where the microphones are (at the right side of the piano, I think the hight is about 1.70 Meters, it is hard to see but I think that the think to set them on a hight where the ears are from a standing grown up human) in respect to the instruments.

take this in considering to, like there is a wooden floor, damping is use behind the drummer ect.
