Title: Not starting at the beginning?
Post by: JohanZ on November 02, 2008, 09:06:12 pm
Hi Peter,

After some hours of playing XXHighEnd, i have the impression when playing a new record that the music not starts at the beginning of a track but a few seconds later........ All in unattended mode. Closing XX and starting again then it seems to work for some time ok.

Hey Johan,

It seems hard to imagine i.e. I can't think of anything that would cause it.
It could be coincidence because (somehow) your system may get slower and slower for harddisk I/O's which is reset when playback is stopped (???). But then you must be able to see that because of the hdd light flashing longer and longer.

When you can see hidden files :
In your XX folder there's always an XXDat0001.das file when you're playing. When this happens again, could you send me that file ?
Note that at each next track it changes, so you could send me a couple of them (when a track started playing, copy it to a unique name, and do that for 3 or 4 tracks).
I'm almost sure it will only show the opposite (hence it is not explicitly controlled like that, which *could* happen), but then that option is out of the way anyway.

Thanks,
Peter

PS: I must admit that I sometimes think the same, but not after a longer period of playing. I did find a missing sample indeed. Hahahaha (solved in the upcoming version btw).

I know what causes this problem. When you give a pause command during playback and you give a clear command to prepare a load of a new record, the progression indicator remains in that old position. Loading a new record wil start at that position. Solution: When you want to quit you need to give a stop after a pause command. Or XX need a small change, after the clear command (and a load command) the progression indicator needs to be automaticaly reset. Or am i wrong..... :(

Sometimes i ends a listening session of an album with a pause command and select a new album. I have noticed that the track did not always start at the beginning of that new selected album. This "problem" is still in 09x-3.

Steps
1 start a track
2 after 20 seconds give a pause command
3 clear command to erase the playlist
4 select in the library a new album to the playlist area
5 progression indicator stays in the same (old) position
6 give the play command
7 track continues from the old place (album before)

I have the impression that after a clear command you need to reset the progression indicator or not.....its a choice..

Oops ... before when I looked at this I saw it was already in there, but in the mean time this bothers me just the same now and then.
What I see now, is that the resetting of the play position only happens when sound is playing ! So I guess that is the problem ...

Thanks !
