Title: Host services has stopped
Post by: LydMekk on November 16, 2008, 10:48:22 am
In Vista SP1. This only happens sometimes and not as far as I can see in regular intervals. This pertains to the V6a version. Sometimes this creates so big a crash that the PC has to be restarted.

Have tried different settings for PlayerPrio up to and including AboveNormal, maybe it became SOMEWHAT more stable but the error crops up inbetween now and again anyhow.

Suggestion?

Settings as per my signature/profile.

Nothing has also worked for me SQ wise... go figure?

Btw. Gerard: see you have selected Prosessor Sch. 3. I am getting better sound with "No appointment" here instead of Schema 3. With Sch. 3 it sounds more "edgy" and I feel a unconscious need to gnash my teeth together...

Ok...there's nothing like a free lunch...

There's minute changes in SQ (in my ears) when changing the different thread prios (both of them).

Have not tried ALL combos, but changed them both to the same setting, e.g. High etc.

IMO they sound most NATURAL when set at default BelowNorm & High. Maybe fighting for winner position with "Nothing" for both settings.

But, will check this out in more detail later. Too tired now for any quality deducements...  ;)

I'll try no scheme sometime; have you tried scheme 1 extensively?  When I tried 3 it makes things more laid back, but maybe more diffuse also... still ok with it.  1 seems to bring the music forward and more solid...with the schemes it is a feeling type of thing though too.
