Title: Fireface drivers and firmware
Post by: Chris V on November 28, 2008, 05:43:57 pm
It just occured to me that my Fireface 400 is about 18 months old. Does anyone know the latest versions of drivers etc.
I have:
driver version 2.73
hardware revision 1.63

Also does upgrading them affect SQ?

Yes, it can happen that SQ is influenced, although this is not the intention (I assume).
I'm using 2.89 myself.

Be careful that the latest version could use new firmware; which firmware a driver version needs is usually indicated in a with the driver withgoing txt file.

Good luck !
Peter

I just checked mine for the FF800; says 2.898.  If you do go up and don't like it, can't you just roll it back?

Of course, why not ? If you can only find the previous version somewhere ...

Well yes, I do have the 2.8.98.0 drivers saved,,, I save all my drivers I use to "make" the computer... doesn't everyone? heh
But,
even if I didn't,
there's a button
(Device Manager > Sound, video and games > right click on RME Fireface 800 > properties > Driver tab)
called "Roll Back Driver"
I don't think I've ever used it for anything, but I think it would allow you to roll back to the previous driver used, windows must save somewhere, without having the old one in a file saved like some nerd might do.

Ah that ...
I never use that feature either, because it would be an out of control thing. So, back to the "old" one. Yeah, but which one was that ?
This nerd too saves everything himself. Now he can nicely pick too.
