Title: "the back" of the CD is shown
Post by: JohanZ on February 06, 2009, 07:04:42 pm
Hi Peter,

Quote
Issue left : Unlike within XXHighEnd itself, lacking track numbers are not shown. This is for later to solve.
Similarly, the running track times are not shown. Also for later.

I am still using an 8" LCD screen. I have a problem when there more then e.g. 10 tracks. See attachment.
Can you solve this for the 8" LCD users?

See suggestions in picture http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=344.0 maximum track indicator.

Right, I forgot about that Johan. But I'm also not finished with that.
But first please tell me, what would you think of scaling the font smaller when one uses a small monitor ? too me it doesn't look like a good solution because of visibility. On a "normal" monitor now 21 tracks fit which seems sufficient. But that should work out on your 8" just the same ... but smaller.

Bad idea ?

(the 4/10 can be done anyway, but it is only little informative).

The fontsize could be a lot smaller and starting one line higher.
Make the font and - size selectable i.e. 6 - 10
make the "Back of the CD" optional

In unattende mode i always want to know how many tracks to go

Although such a "feature" (:swoon:) is obvious, do you yourself (!) have any special reason to want this ?
I thought about it (and it can be done really) but I see no gain in it. Your picture wouldn't be larger because of it anyway ... (well, not substantially).

In case you could not show all the tracks on the screen, i prefer the 'old' wallpaper.

Make it user selectable previous wallpaper or the new one with the back of the CD. Its only a problem for the 8" LCD users. And when you show the old Wallpaper please show the maximum tracks ..........and the artistname.

Please change the underline inicator for the actual track in bold, so i can see from a distance the progression of the tracks. (and make the font smaller and verdana)

Haha, I agree (the Verdana I don't know ... must see it first).
Note though that the space the line will take grows with it (but possibly I can make the font smaller at the same time, and you won't notice a difference).

Well I tried a couple of things. The first one is Verdana. But I don't like it. Not fragile enough. Too crowded as well.
I, for now, stick to the second one.

Verdana is more modern and more readable. Actually I prefer that one. My 2c.

I prefer verdane too. Make the fontsize smaller and don't use italic for the trackname. Change the "back" topline in Artistname and the bottemline in albumyear and -name

I agree with Lydmekk and JohanZ, Peter.
Verdana is much better readable from a distance for my older eyes! For you it's messy maybe, for me it's the opposite.
I'am affraid people see different like they hear different maybe?
I hope for the better....for us at last.
SOUND is the best I ever experienced from a computer. Maybe even in general.
Thanks.

Of course I can apply a bunch of parameters for it.

- FontName
- FontSize
- Italics J/N Bold J/N
- Active Track Bold J/N Underline J/N

and of course

- Show back J/N  :) :)

Btw, a next version will show the real back when a back.jpg is present. :secret:

But there's no way to acually use the tracks presented in the Back.jpg file, is there?
So when we'll be using the real Back.jpg file and on top the tracklist, we'll have a mess, don't we?

Title: Re: "the back" of the CD is shown

Yes. But it was my intention to show it as vague as right now.
Of course there is the option to show it in full (so no transparency) so you can just read the tracks from there (they will be there in 99% of cases), but indicating the active track is a tad too difficult. :) And as I found, it is somehow informative to show the relative position, which doesn't work with a track name at the bottom + track number ("or a 4 out of 12").

You're right, I agree.

When you right click on a picture is there a way to rename it to back.jpg? like there is for folder.jpg... that could come in handy since I haven't named anything else but the folder.jpg pics.

I like the second pic of font style; but I'm not worried about seeing it from a distance.

Right Dave. From far or nearby, that all doesn't matter much. But what about a couple of glasses ?

Whether you like it or not, below two pictures have one main difference : the color of that small area at the bottom in the middle.

What would that be for ?
:teasing:

First, that looks really good Peter!
To your question, maybe Q1? :scratching:
Or total playback time for the CD? :scratching:2

Volume setting? Not that important though...directory info?  None of these data being updated affect SQ, right? hehe  Going to jump to X on your next version,,, I promise.

:smirk: You're on the wrong track. That area stays as you see it. Nothing to be in there. Only the color can change (as you see it). :smirk:

After mulling over this for a day I reckon it's one of several possible indicators.

First choice is an indicator of how advanced into the track you are positioned. You start off with a white square and it gets darker the further in you progress until it shows black at the end.

Second idea is that the two different colours represented whether you were in attended or unattended mode, but I kinda figured you should know that anyway!

Another idea is it indicates the level of transparency for the "back" of the CD when not using actual covertart. Since these pictures both show covertart in use it's difficult to tell on this one.

Could also be font colour for when the "back" is in use.

Am I getting warmer huh Peter ??

Cheers,

Russ

What would that be for ?

Realtime Q adjustment?
Realtime adjustment for preset of different Q settings?
Wake from unattended to attended?
...
Rip function?

Realtime Q adjustment?
Realtime adjustment for preset of different Q settings?

Because there's absolutely no analogy between that area changing color on one side, and what you suggest on the other, BUT you quite well feel what it should be about ...

I still hope to get a 'Dynamic' Back for the 8" LCD screen to see all the tracks. (I know there is a limit)
Options:
show back
Font (e.g. Verdana) & size (disabled when back is not selected)
Colour of active track (disabled when ...)

:)

For the upcoming version.
No dynamic fonts, but Verdana has been applied allright.

Notice that the first shown album has no back.jpg, while the second has. Still all the combinations are possible.

Why the font change? I got used to the times.

BTW, in attended mode with taskbar autohide everything is exactly as I want :)
Sometimes I prefer your back with track list (more visible than some albums back).

Does this message mean that now i can choose whether to display the back.jpg picture?

Great job. Can you add maximum tracks, so I can see from a distance how far to go. See attachment

I'll hope you introduce the maximum tracknumber in the track title of the OSD text. I don't memorize the maximum tracks of an album (even after loading the playlist) When i switched "the back" off i still want to know the maximum tracks. With the fontsize of OSD Text i can see it from a distance of 4 meters.

See http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=734.msg6745#msg6745

........... :)

Will be there !
(but this needs some more adjustments, because (and you may not have seen this) track numbers may not show in the first place (while in the Playlist Area they always do) as well as that the Album Name is not (properly) recognized in there (ChangeWP). Not the biggest job, but something I really have to sit down for).

I hope that you will present it as follows:

Tord Gustavsen Trio
2004 - The Ground

The year is important and I have a 8" LCD screen!

Title: Re: "the back" of the CD is shown
Post by: PeterSt on August 18, 2010, 06:04:32 pm
Coincidentally I just made it like you see below (sorry for the wide screen). So, the year (when there ! - and it wasn't with the before example) is explicitly formatted at the end. This can easily be done differently, but to me it seemed that the year (once playing) is less important than the album title ...

Hmm ...
