Title: CD's won't play ?
Post by: AUDIODIDAKT on March 27, 2009, 07:43:35 am
Hi Peter,

I'm now set-up for about 6 weeks.
The sound is great for now (it takes lots of time to get things to work your way)
and it takes lots and lots of time listening.

I have a Q:

I have about 800 cd's on my hdd but about 10% to 20% doesn't play in XXHE.
and they are all hq single wav files in album folders.

and what is "invert" there is no balloon tip there?

grtz
EINDHOVEN GEKSTE

About the Invert ... hey, you are right. No ToolTip. Pwew. It means switching absolute phase (so for both channels + and - switch).

About the albums ... strange. Of course I want to know what you ripped them with, but in the end I will need an example track. Can you send me one ? -> http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=721.0

I will make them work ...
I guess. :swoon:

Good to see you happy !
Peter

Can you send me all the 100 CDs which don't work in full so I can try them ? hehe
No, just kidding.

But I guess you don't have enough memory maybe ? How much do you have ?
Edit : yeah, 6GB according to you sig ...

Ok, but do you get any error messages ?

Well, you could set your logging on, and post the X3 as well as the XX log file. But I'm not sure whether I can see anything. We'll see.

The XX file is ok, but the other should be the X3.....log  file from the same directory. And I like to see it (but a first problem is already shown ...).

Can it be so that with a previous version you didn't have this problem with the same CDs ?
(better not try it right now, because you might get stuck).

It looks like you have the same problem as here : ChangeWP errors (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=780.0).

yes i had the same problem with all versions.
but 1 time it  did play this album
but vista crashed on me serveral times so i did a clean install
so i don't no the versions or settings anymore

about wp-change
i have the same problem and think i unticked the "show wallpaper" button.
and thought the problem was over.
I only have a log file from another album
because x3 is created upon files "that did play on x3" correct me if i am wrong !@!

Ah, if that is your observation, that is important to know just the same !

Further, same problem on the short names.

Thank you Roy.

This must be that short name problem again. So, even with the Wall Paper shut off, the path to them are stored by means of their Short Name. This by itself is only needed for the  "Copy to XX-Drive" feature, but it is needed anyway now. Sorry ...

If you could test and switch on those Short Names ...
Do you have any reason to shut them off ? (I'll listen :))

no reason to switch them off,
but these are standard mods for vista and xp
to boost op performance.
but if xxhe uses them then ill switch them on
"its all about the music" hehe

Disable 8.3 filename creation:
The NFTS file system is set to automatically create a "short filename" for any file considered a "long filename" in Windows. This is done so files are compatible with old 16bit legacy applications. Microsoft admits the creation of 8.3 filenames can degrade your file system performance. To disable 8.3 filenames for future files you will need to open "regedit" and navigate to: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\ FileSystem" and find the DWORD "NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation" and set its value to 1.
To disable 8.3 filenames for existing files you will need to open a command prompt and type "fsutil.exe behavior set disable8dot3 1". Source: Microsoft.

you have to switch them to 0

But I wonder how that works for existing files. And *if* it works ...
