Title: Playlist issue
Post by: boleary on April 01, 2009, 12:46:01 pm
Hi Peter, dowloaded "6" last night and unzipped it this morning before reading your post about throwing 6 away. Must say that many of the 5b issues have been worked out. However, I experienced the same "white noise" Russ described but through a different process. Using a playlist with both 16/44.1 and 24/96 wave files all was well when a 16/44.1 track ended and a 24/96 track started ( there was the sound of a little click). However, going from a 24/96 track to a 16/44.1 caused an explosion of white, coffee spilling, noise.

Very much looking forward to 6b. Am off to New Orleans for a work conference but plan on catching some of the best jazz in the world in the evenings. Be back Sunday.

Oh my ... and I have been thinking for 10 times at least to check the other way around as well, which I never did in the end ...
:fool:

In that case, this must obviously be solved first. I mean, before putting up a new version. And I have the hunch it won't be easy (I *really* expected it to work the other way around just as well).

Ok, solved in 0.9x-6a which is up now.

But, please be careful at testing "combinations", and please do so as long as you are not sure the combination has been tested before. Better keep the Checkbox "Allow Format Change" ticked so you are warned, and then can carefully try.
There are many more combinations than you might expect, and by now it may take days to test them all (this is near really true :)).

Peter

PS: The Crack Detect should have fired, but because of the same bug it did not. When combinations don't work, that will probably be the same then ...  :o

Hi Peter, first let me say the sound I'm getting out of this Dell Laptop is unbelievable.

However, still no luck playing a 24/96 file followed by a 16/44.1. Now I am getting the following error message: "Invalid ARG" which, when closed, is followed by "2/16/96000/384000/4."

Going from 16/44.1 to 24/96 works fine. Thanks!

What !? ... but you are right. That is, I just rechecked, and although I don't receive your message, I can see that the DAC keeps on running at 96KHz.

I don't know how I tested this before, but usually I do this without sound, like now (what if things go wrong eh).
Sorry, and thanks for mentioning it !

Peter

This is solved and will be in 0.9x-7.

Thanks Peter. Works well. There is a small click when changing formats but I assume that's okay. I can now begin the task of rebuilding my playlists.

Hi Peter, with playlists, if I want to change the order of songs it is difficult. I can only move a song to the bottom of a list but nowhere else within the list. Adding a song to a list always places the song at the bottom which is expected, but moving a song to a different place within the list doesn't work unless its moved to the bottom. If this is something you would change I would appreciate it, but I am not in a hurry. Thanks.

I know. This is wrong for quite some months now. There was a time it worked.
I never got into it, since nobody complained about it.

Which ended today. :)

Actually, when you drag a song from Explorer, you still can position it where you want. Maybe this helps you for now ?
Dragging a song from within the Playlist to another position indeed does not work (anymore). But I will restore that at some stage.
