The SFS.ini can be edited with e.g. NotePad (and which value does what is in the Release Notes I think).
Search in your XXHighEnd folder (in c:\program files\... or whatever you install XX)  for SFS.ini file. First two numbers are the key.

Linux is the best resourse/stable OS but unfortunately(or not) Bill's boys have done better work with sound engene/drivers. Ofc I hopes that in near future Linux will give us sound blasting but for now kUbuntu, gNome and KDE sounds dry and skinny unhappy

And the 3rd way is to geniune it(crack it) If you have original serial number I don't think it's a crime!

Pedal,
yes there is significant difference:
-first the start up logo is blue and green
-there is button for quick window switch(which i still can't find in w7)
-some cosmetic and visual things
-and YES BETTER SOUNDING ENGINE! But I think you can get it from all the 23 pages in this topic hahah Happy
NVM try Vista and listen music that's all for now.

Ivo good
that's the way! Here a nice PSU:
Thermaltake Fanless Purepower 350 Model W0029 — 350W ATX power supply.
Your E6300 CPU is a very very good choice I will take E7300:
"For affordable performance per watt, there's no going past the Intel Core 2 Duo processors. A good choice for this sort of project is the E7300. It has enough grunt to spare that you can underclock it, and lower the core voltage to run it cooler. Put a passive cooler on it, you want to avoid fans, they're noisy both acoustically and electrically."

Creating a "lite" version for each release would be a lot more work for Peter I imagine.
No just for the next one and ect. I did tried it and it's ok but still feeling XX heavy..(I know that's my PC problem)

Hello Peter,
I want to ask you  Happy what about in every new version of XX to add one very basic lite version with no album art, no gallery, skin, visual effects etc. etc., just playlist, setting tree and play/stop buttons. Because after tweak OS and put video settings to 256bit colors...I don't care about any skin in XX :D
Best regards, Criss.

So, it seems, the best is 3. Less and more than 3 sound is more harsh and flat, with 3 it is deeper and warmer, like...
a
Indeed, I'm with value 3 for more than week and it's the sweet spot for me too. Wink (so I'm not crazy ahaha :D )
Marcin I tried them ...yeap I can hear the difference! Hmm about Xp...hmm please try it I think it's not bad at all. I got better mid and high but kind of tiny bass. Still digging!
Regards, Criss!

XP has one (among others) interesting option - it's called timeres and it allows to decrease 'waitable timer' from default's 7.8ms to 0.98 ms
How to set it up Marcin?

I'm sorry but Win98 is cr*p Happy
True! Question to Peter, is it possible to run XX on Linux(I'm sure you already answer it but can't find the topic). I've been trying few Linux OS and music program on them but...didn't like them!
Regards, Criss.

I think I'm gonna try XP one more time - slimmed&tweaked, minlogon etc. I remember I didn't like it some time ago, but now with new version of XXHE, Ramdisk and CPU affinity masks, it could be interesting...
I'll wait for your report Marcin! And what do you think about trying Win98 to? Happy

44  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Build a new computer for Z3/Vista 64 bit/RAMdisk on: October 31, 2010, 01:43:50 pm
For me absolutely no fans inside PC and no PCI-e GPU is the only way. Fans are very silent, but 'noisy' to other components, if you know what I mean. The same with power consuming noise polluting graphic card.
Exactly Marcin! When I say noisy all I mean is that this noise is in all the way to the speakers! You can put the PC in other apartment if you want but that "noise" is moving through the chain! Even believe or not but fuses and electricity matters more than we think !http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xs1aUws0Lrs watch this video if you didn't and listen the funny greek about 50% electricity.

Peter,
all my respect, but seriously are you DEАF? or are you really try to build HIGHEND player with Engine modes, SFS files, Buffers sizes, arc, invert and etc, etc and you really can't hear your power supplies fan? I don't know....maybe I need a doctor!!!  http://www.seasonicusa.com/X.htm Suteetat take a look...fantastic PSU and fanless. THE MOST important think for a music server build.....think wherever you want but who cares for 4 or 6 cores and 12 or 16gb ram IF you have noisy PC guys...WHO? Suteetat take even 2 cores but buy the best PSU you can find mate, my suggestion!
