the electronic instability that could produce the pull of the ramdisk, although I guess that there is none.

Juan, No.
I forgot to explicitly mention that.

I think such instability can only emerge from making / breaking connections between devices, with the USB cable as a good example. But also plugging/unplugging mains cords (now things connect to each other over the mains).

With your NOS1(a) you can nicely see what actually happens or what's to be established : a decent connection with the "ground loops" where we want it. I guess we all know about the DC Offset which can be higher than wanted. So what do you do to correct that ? re-establish connections. All you need to do is think of what you actually do when you "set" your DC Offset ...
Right ?

Peter

Right, Peter. Thanks

Hi Alain,

The noise I have comes mostly from the power supply in the Music Server but I have in some place another one less noise, on the other hand I could place the Music Server in other room with a longer Ethernet cable. About your idea of Minimize using XXHE in the Music Server to make it less noisy I don´t know if this would cut other processes needed by the Remote Desktop.

Juan

I read your last post after writing mine, sorry. I get the idea, thanks.

Well, that you should have a stable system. Stable-wrong or stable-right. But not at the will of God
Peter

Peter, you mentioned the paragraph above referring to what boleary said on plugging and unplugging the USB drives and/or other components. Doing it creates electronic imbalances that affect the sound.  http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3453.msg37458#msg37458

This is now my system configuration:

Dock with 2 music drives (2Tb each) > USB 3.0 cable > Music PC (W10) used exclusively  to manage the Remote Desktop > Ethernet Gigabyte cable > Switch > Ethernet Gigabyte cable > Audio Pc with the Ram-disk.

The idea behind the Ram-disk is to keep the Audio Pc as "clean" as possible to get better sound. I wonder if removing the Ram-disk once it is loaded into memory can produce also some kind of instability in the system. In any case, is there a sequence or an exact moment to pull the Ram-disk? And also, once the Ram-disk is out, could shut down the Music Pc? Could this also alter the stability of the system?

Regards,
Juan

I´m not talking about unplugging here, the reference to the boleary post was based only in the electronic instability that could produce the pull of the ramdisk, although I guess that there is none. On the other hand to turn off of the Music Pc is mostly based in the noise it produces in my room. Although it has some inconveniences because once you charge a list of music you can´t do anything if you have no active the Remote desktop. Well, this is probably not a good idea and the solution is to find a quieter Music Pc.

Peter, I could finally set my system up correctly. It is definitely the best sound so far. Congratulations once again.

Hi Peter, of course I read the tutorial from the beginning,  I even printed it to have it in my hands while I was doing the tests. I haven't said at any time that I  haven't read the tutorial.

I could made a mistake cloning the ram disk, just to have a backup, but it doesn't mean that I'm a fool. Well, at least I don't think so about my self.

Again a sunny winter day here, that's usual in this part of South Europe and, to be honest  Wink, it contributes greatly to keep the mood.

Kind regards
Juan

Hi Alain, thanks for your explanation it is very clear. I followed Peter's tutorial and I think I made correctly each step but I did it with a cloned disk that I made to have a backup just to know if it was working. The first time that I installed it Windows repaired it automatically. Maybe that cloned disk had some errors although it appeared exactly as the original.  I'll try it again today with the original because I made the test yesterday night and it was too late to make more tests

Hi Alain, it's impossible to boot from any BASE version, it always boot from RAM versions.

Hi Peter, I´d like to know how to make changes in the BASE version in order to maintain those changes in the RAM version.  E.g. do I need to deactivate Windows Defender each time I reboot?

Thanks Peter, I just opened the envelope with the ram-disk and the usb Clairixa. I´ll wait to work with it until I know what and how to do. I guess that would be nice if we wait a few days until more people receive the shipment and we can work together, meanwhile we can study your tutorial when it gets ready.

For the 100 euros and your second Clairixa it is 30cm by standard. So I hope you can use that (everybody thinks he can Wink) or otherwise it has to be the usual price.
The 20th should be 2 days too late (maybe 1) as all will ship together (shipping is now 10 euros less).
So I hope it is okay ?

That's Okay  Peter, please ship a 30cm Clairixa with the ram disk the same day as all the others.

Peter, before you send my ram disk I'd  like to order another Clairixia but I'm not sure  about the length I need until I return home by the 20th of this  month. So please wait until l confirm with you that length.
In case I'd need around 1m would be this length a problem to maintain the correct impedance or I should get a shorter one?

Although probably they won´t be among my favorites I recognize that they sound good even in my laptop. To my surprise there is a song in Spanish in the Rosenrot album:

Te quiero puta (I love you bitch). Not too much place for the imagination... Wink: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEj2ZRZ7L74&index=9&list=PLC23917C925F17DAC

There are however in the album a variety of sounds and melodies that make it interesting.
